Reality Of Nudism
A frank discussion group about the realities of nudism
The Reality is...
Return to DiscussionsThe reality is... that nudism is not generally acceptable to society, we are viewed with suspicion, as if there is something wrong with us, we're all a group of perverts, exhibitionists, swingers and even paedophiles and at the very least a bit odd. Unfortunately I'm not sure if and when this will ever change. Because of these views the majority of nudists are afraid to tell anyone for fear it may alienate them from family and friends and could even harm their career. You only have to look at how many profiles on here don't display a photo and you hardly ever see anyone use their real name. Whilst Ive only been a nudist for 9 years I dont believe there have been any real changes in attitude over the last 50 years, and I'm not sure if it'll ever change.
Took the words right out of my mouth! Unfortunately, there are people who are part of those unacceptable groups and practices that use nudity as a cover to launch those activities and only give the lifestyle a bad name. But I see it improving. Probably not in my lifetime but If I can use the gay community as an example, they were despised and cursed, and some still see them that way. Now they are getting married and leading more normal lives compared to thirty years ago. So I see nudity as a newer or blooming lifestyle that will find acceptance with the majority. That's not to say that nudity will be practiced by the majority. There will always be those who find fault with the lifestyle. And there are those who will use nudity as a way to stalk or pursue their own interests. But in general I see the lifestyle as at least being more tolerated. Just think of how many more nudists there could be if the stiffer, stuck up ones would just give it an honest try. when I was a kid I never gave any thought to weather the bus driver, store checkout, teacher, gas station attendant, the person walking the dog out front, the cop, fireman or paramedic, the cook at the restaurant, taxi driver, my doctor or the traveling bible salesman could be a nudist. I think it is estimated that 15% of Americans are known nudists. How many are not known? There's plenty of room to grow. There will still be those who try to slander the lifestyle. This may come from personal upbringing or industrial imposed standards but I think the truth of an honest nudist lifestyle will win out eventually. At least that is my hope.

So very true those kind folks are on full exhibit here on this site you can when they are only focus on the nakedness aspect of nudism rather than any social activities.
