Segregated Nudity At The Y.M.C.A.

This group is for males who remember when or wish nudity was back in the Y.M.C.A.. But not just nudity. Segregated Nudity. This group is based on the blog, https://www.gasguys.wordpress.com

The pic here of all the guys nude at the pool reminds me of high school. This is how we always swam in gym class at my high school in Michigan (1966-1967). Most likely they don't do that any more.

RE: Pool pic

Throughout my school years swimming in gym class was always naked. But there is no photo evidence of that. This was before the invention of the mobile phone with built-in camera. Nowadays everything gets documented. But there is no longer any naked swimming in schools to document ... and if there was - snapping pictures would be illegal (for good reason) ...

Back in the late 1960s through the early 1970s the boys swimming classes in the junior high and senior high I attended in Dearborn, Michigan, were nude. The only exception was during Red Cross life-saving instruction when we wore speedo type suites. Once the Red Cross training was completed, we had the option of swimming nude or wearing the suits. If I remember correctly, a few boys continued to wear a swimsuit, but only for a few days, after which they also went back to swimming nude. Also, the boys intramural swim meets were nude.

One of the rationals given for the nude swimming was the often heard pool filter issue. Nonetheless, the girls swam wearing tank suits which had vastly more material than the boys small Speedo suits.

I wish I went to a school where we had to swim naked. We went skinny dipping at summer camp a few times.

Yes, thank the internet for preserving the history of all male nude swimming at the YMCA, school and camp.
I don't know how long the blogs will continue to be believed, but there are historical photos available of those days.
Many YMCAs and Schools have had to destroy photos and records that were made during those times.

Not only have they stopped nude swimming for men and boys, but they are indeed trying to make its history disappear,
