Prepping the RV?

Return to Discussions

Anyone else prepping the RV for an early spring trip? Though its still mid-January, I have been washing the motorhome, cleaning the inside and doing the simple mechanical checks. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but just a casual look-see. Dont want to wait until the last minute, you always forget something. How about it folks, anybody else starting?

RE:Prepping the RV?

It's always good to keep the RV ready to go. We try to keep on top of things, but there's always a long list of stuff to do before taking it on the road!

Two weeks ago, we has to "winterize" the thing for the cold spell here on the Panhandle coast. Southern winterizing is fairly easy -- putting a little heat in the water and sewer lockers.

Anyway, I suggest that you make our place your first stop on your spring trip. :) You can help us get ours ready, Lol. We can to caravan with you, off to . . . . . . "nowhere in particular."

We are planning on moving the 5th wheel from Fish Nature Camp in Silverhill, down to Gypsy Beach at Ft Morgan. BUT, running a check after the freeze, I discovered one slideout wont go back in. The other 2 slides go in and out ok. I have checked underneath for blockages and greased the arms, but no go. Will it damage anything to push from the outside while holding the in button ?

Slides rule #1: Check batteries and their connection. Weak batteries or bad or corroded connections or loose ground. Friends of ours had a 1 year-old Coachmen with some of the above -- burnt out the slide motor (out of warranty -- ouch!).

Good info ! First thing I did was put in a new battery . The other 2 slides run off the same battery, and they work fine.

Hi, I saw your slide question and thought I would offer some information. Attached is a basic overview of types of slides. I have way too much knowledge of the Swintek system as I have completly replaced the one in our RV. Take a scan at this, it will help in diagnosis. https://drivinvibin.com/2021/07/26/rv-slides/

RE:Prepping the RV?

Been prepping the RV since our last trip in November. Re-did the entertainment cabinet with our old Yamaha amplifier and an updated Blu-Ray player and a new powered subwoofer...ready for blasting us out of the RV when we are away from others LOL. The old system that was in the Tiffin MH was just too old and cutting out every once in a while and needed replacing. We have cleaned out the inside cabinets and restocked everything. We will leave at the end of Feb and head to Shangri La Resort for a month then north to workcamp at Hart Ranch in Rapid City, SD for the summer...Wish we could be at a clothing optional resort for the summer though....but we are always naked in our RV! stay naked and happy!
