Shaving vs. Waxing

Return to Discussions

I shave and my wife prefers being waxed...her hair is getting much thinner after each session. She recently changed to sugaring and it's a lot less painful. We just posted some pics from one of her sessions.

I have been waxed several times. I prefer shaving in the shower to getting waxed. I would like to have laser removal as some members of my camp have.

RE:Shaving vs. Waxing

Shavers for decades. About 4 years ago, I tried waxing and have stayed with that method for hair removal. My wife tried waxing once and felt it hurt too much to try it again. She's thinking about trying it now that I go every 5-6 weeks for treatments but continues to shave herself for the most part and then I shave the remaining hard to get spots. I was getting just a Brazilian but since last year, I now have the hair removed from my shoulders, upper arms, back, entire butt, anal area, Brazilian and upper thighs.

Waxing works best for me right now. It took me quite a while and I had some not so very nice phone conversations with young women as I tried to find someone that would perform these waxing services on men ... older men. I found a mature RN/Esthetician with her own business, operating out of a salon in her home and she's about 50 mins away from us. She does a great job, is professional and friendly.

I've never tried an epilator. Is it painful?
Ive gotten used to it. Before doing it on a weekly basis, I would recommend either waxing or plucking everything to get a less dense growth to epilate. Also, new growth seems to be less rooted.

I shave, girlfriend waxes. She wants me to try it but I prefer to take care of that myself.

Definitely waxing, I get a full brazilian once every 4-5 wks, started out many years ago shaving... once I got my first brazilian, never once ever considered going back to shaving... so much smoother, and lasts so much longer, no razor stubble, and the hair actually gets thinner over time...

I just recently got a Brazilian and love the look and feel. Much better job than I can do shaving. Just can't reach those lower spots in the shower and waxing gets them all. I'll go back for session 2 in a few weeks ....
I get the same results from epilating. Far better than shaving!

Being a virtually hairless guy except in the obvious places I don't have a need for the full body waxing or epilating. I've never tried either, don't know if I want to.
I've shaved in the past but don't like the stubble when it starts to grow back.
I cut my own hair every few weeks with my Wahl then clip on one of the short attachments to trim everything else. It gives me a nice clean look without the stubble and no knicks or cuts. It only takes a few minutes to clean everything up.

I went in and got sugared for the first time two days ago. I had been shaving for over a year but finally decided to take the plunge. Very glad that I did. It is so much smoother and no after burn or itch like I experienced with shaving. The young woman who did it was quite pleasant and made me feel both welcome and comfortable. I will definitely be going back to her.

Now, if I can just convince my wife to come along next time and get it done too. (She is already smooth, but by shaving)
