Sometimes I get the ITCH!

Return to Discussions

I'm new to the group.
I also like the smooth look and feel but I don't usually shave.
I prefer to just trim real close with my Wahl when I cut my hair every couple of weeks. It's quick and easy with similar results.
Every so often I'll use the razor because that really close shave is such a nice feel.
The byproduct is the itch I have to deal with on day two and three afterwards.
Then I wonder if the juice was worth the squeeze!
Is there a cure?

I don't get the itch when I shave. Maybe I did in the beginning but don't remember it. Been shaving for quite a few years now.

For a short while, I too experienced itching a couple of days after shaving my pubic area, penis, scrotum, butt crack and anal area. I also go some razor burn and occasionally I got an ingrown hair bump. I got tired of shaving and about 6 years ago, I went to an aesthetician that provided services to men. I began getting wax treatments and prefer waxing to shaving but it was essentially over $100 a month for what I was having done, plus the tip, even though I was only going about every 6 weeks. I stopped going about 8 months ago and started to shave again. Not something I enjoy doing but I/we do enjoy the look and feel of smooth skin.

After returning to shaving, I was concerned that I'd start all over again with the irritation, itching, bumps and such but it hasn't returned. I have to admit that we're not shaving as often as we did. We were shaving every couple of days but it's more once a week now or before we head out to our club or a resort.

When I was experiencing that itch and irritation, I used Cortizone creme or ointment. I applied it soon after shaving and did not get the irritation bumps, no itching and don't remember getting any ingrown hair bumps. I preferred the ointment, my wife preferred the creme. Since returning to shaving, I have not experienced any of these issues and haven't used the Cortizone since returning to shaving.

I noticed that one major laser hair removal specialist in Southern Calif. will do full removal of bikini area for $40. No itch, but pain when it's removed. And it is permanent. Question is do you want it to be permanent?

For me lotion and/or an Aloe gel works well. And if she's around my wife volunteers to apply it.

I find the powder to work a lot better than the cream. The fragranced don't work at all. I have used it so many years that it's only about every week and a half that I need to apply and no itching after or between sessions. I use it wherever I want the hair removed and use a loofa to remove. Grey hairs can be a bit more stubborn if you don't keep up with it.

All that mixing, smoothing and scraping sounds a lot like hanging sheet rock!
I hate hanging sheet rock!
So far Audibiker sounds like he has the best thing going! :-)

Make sure you put it on outside, wear your protective gear and don't light up when you're doing it! Hold your breath the whole time!
Better remove your jewelry first or you may melt that off too!
Holy S**T!
I think I'm going to keep that stuff as far away from my junk as possible!

It can't be that bad. It comes in a cardboard can with a steel bottom in it. My can has been on the shelf from last year and it has not eaten thru yet.
Do pay attention to the time on the skin. A few extra minutes will cause burns in sensitive areas!
The stuff works! It the smoothest I've ever been. Cheap also by the can.

I'm sure it's approved by the FDA but you have to admit, it's a bit on the creepy side!
I think I'll err on the side of caution and hang on to my plumbing for a few more decades!
I don't want to be sporting a Slim Jim in my 80s!!!!
Got a visual? :-)

Lee I've been using it for years with no side effects.....besides my penis bending to the left and my testicles growing nipples but other than that! How's that for a visual?
