Return to DiscussionsThere seems to be a myth out there that dudes hanging out together nude makes them LESS hetero. I tend to think that it's the opposite. Buds, when hanging out nude, are more able to encourage each other into cultivating the masculinity that women want. It's like regular malebonding except the nude part makes all involved less able to hide.
It's historical and traditional for men and women to socialize segregated by gender, which could be referred to as homosociality. This was often the default social setting, whereas mixed gender was more planned, and there was a third hybrid option with for example women on one side and men on the other.
Without modern conveniences, nudity in segregated social settings was considered normal. You could say this extended from the Greek gymnasium school for boys (only) where they studied and exercised naked to the naked swimming pools of the YMCA that were common in the US up to the 1960s.
Feminism and other social changes have decreased homosociality, particularly for men, as women's gyms and "girls night out" are not as equally frowned upon. In my opinion, both sexes still need environments were they can be males among males and females among females for good mental health. I agree that for men, time spent with other men often brings out the best all of us where we can be more than perform and compete.
Naked male bomding is not something I can do with just anyome. I definitely have to feel the chemistry but when I feel it, it's so amszing. You csn still be heterosexual and enjoy intimacy with your bros. I may be gay but I have straight friends I admire and respect way too mucb to treat them like a sex object . The closeness and love we shsre is so much deeper than just sex.

Years ago I was I. The service our squadron was on a TDY to Turkey we had been there several weeks, it was time to go back to our base. It was brutally hot, our plane was the 3rd to be leaving to go back to home base. The plane broke down on the runway with around 50 of us inside. They tried to repair the plane with us inside it was very hot inside all of us was sweating profusely. They gave us the option if unloading all our gear and duffle bags and then we would ship out in 1 to to days because the flight schedules had been made and no variations could be made we couldn't bump the gi's off if another plane and take there plane we would have to wait, or we could unload and leave everything on the plane and we would the first to ship out when the plane got fixed. So that was what we chose to do. Well it was gonna be the next morning before it was ready to fly. So they let us go back to the tents we had been in for weeks. Some how they came up with sheets for us on our cots you didn't need more than that it was so hot and really to hot to sleep. Well this was one make bonding experience never to be forgot. We was able to use a washing machine in billeting so we could wash our uniforms and we ran garden hoses to rinse off with. I don't recall anybody staying clothed not even there underwear. We played cards to pass the time and sat and told stories. It was the best bonding ever, everybody accepted the circumstances and stayed in really good spirits it was amazing, everybody was equals at that time no body tried to pull rank to get there way. Make bonding naked is the best.
