Return to DiscussionsI would so much like to have people (fellow teachers) give their views of the closed minds of the political establishment school districts and such on nudism,if it got out you were a nudist or even posted photos of yourself could find you on the unemployment line. They try to tell us that its just not moral to flaunt your body for everyone to see,I myself think that its better to be open with our lifestyle
They googled my name and nickname. Yes, I unwittingly signed my full name here one time in a post, not realizing that google could find this site. I had nudes on other sites, but they were private and not googleable. Now I just accept and move on and laugh.
I agree, it would be so nice if we could all just be open about our lifestyle, but the system just does not work that way. Here in Europe nudity has become acceptable, and it is fine to have nudist holidays, go to mixed saunas, be nude at home, etc., as long as you do not shout it out and do it in private. You may meet collegues on the beach or in the sauna and that is quite allright. But putting nude pictures on the net is a different story. Sad, but that is just the way it is.
I too am a teacher and would love to be able to be open about it. Only a couple colleagues know I am a nudist because they have joined me a few times on a nude beach. In Hawaii, we have so many beaches to go to and alot are extremely uncrowded. I often go to a secluded area of the beach near my home and am usually never bothered. Occasionally a fisherman or those looking for shells or adventuring will come and I never cover up because if I try to it becomes more obvious and I am already comfortable with being nude and others seeing me. I do frequent the regular nude beach to mingle and be more open to this. I have had former students recognize me and come for a chat while others stare in amazement. Anyhow, the administration would probably let me go, but our headmistress (small private catholic school) is also a frequent topless sunbather.
Debbie and I are now retired, but we both taught and coached in Texas for years. Everyone we knew and taught with were aware of our lifestyle. We never really pushed it on anyone, but we never tried to hide it either. We even owned a club for several years, and had several of our fellow teachers out to visit from time to time. We decided that we were doing nothing wrong, so why try to hide it. We both had recieved great evaluations for years, and felt that it would be very hard to get ride of us over something that was not illegal. Years earlyer, we even had a friend that was a teacher who had interviewed with her local paper. Her picture was in the paper setting at a resort in Texas, during a convevtion. She got into no trouble and had several friends come out and visit us because of the article. I understand your concerns, but really feel that it would be in our best interest, if we were much more open. Sometimes it seems to me that we are hurting ourselves by hiding. By staying in the closet, we are admiting that we too think there is something wrong with what we are doing. Again this is only my opinon, but I wish we were all more open with what we do. We will never be accepted unless we accept it ourselves. It is a great lifestyle, that we are proud to be a part of. Keep it nude, not lude!
They ( Non- Nudists ) view Nudity and Sexuality in the same light. They assume because we are Naked that we have less morality when, in reality, we simply have less clothing. (On us at the time ) They don't get the natural joy and freedom of being Naked. There is an honesty and an openness to Nudists because that barrier of clothing is gone. We are simply enjoying the suit we were given at birth. I imagine the only sign of fashion is whether we shave our pubes or have piercings. The idea of being seen in their birthday suit is so foreign to THEM that "we nudists" must be a little off or dangerous. The sad fact is that THEY are so hung up on their bodies that sometimes their spouses and/or even themselves cannot bear the idea of being seen naked by anyone. That to me is a little strange and weird.
The truth of the matter is Nudity does not always equal sex. (That is what THEY don't get) Nudity means that you are nude. Nudists are comfortable with Nudity. Nudity is natural in nature. We are the only animal on the planet that DONS clothing and is ashamed of their body. Our bodies are our most precious gift after all.
Clothing defines us for others. He is a priest, she is a nurse, he is a businessman, she is a flight attendant etc ... They need to label others to define their world and set up barriers and establish levels of pretentiousness. The people that believe the human body should not be seen Naked actually fail to trust their own thoughts, judgement, motives and actions.
It wasn't too bad for me when i was in adult education, although i was worried of the reaction of people at the junior football team that i coached for 10 years. Now i'm a social worker i take care to keep my private life private. It sadens me that i live what seems like a secret life outside of work.
I'm gay and a nudist and a teacher. I'm fully out as a gay teacher at my school, everyone knows: students, faculty, administration and my partner goes to school functions as my partner. But I'm not out as a nudist. A few teachers know I'm a nudist and I took a colleague with me to Drakes Ridge Rustic Nudist Retreat this summer and he had a great time. He wants to go back and take his wife. I'm not sure what would happen if more people found out I liked to be naked all the time. I occasionally get paranoid and hide my naked pics online. Or hide the more sexual ones.
