Black's Beach, America's most popular, is still an active nudist site in the state-owned portion. If visit, do your part to keep it that way by respecting the boundary signs and covering up if you're going beyond them.Nudity bans are enforced on the south end in the city-owned portion...

I went back in October. Most of the people on the cliffs were wearing masks but nearly everyone ditched them at the beach. This seemed odd to me as I would think the mask would make it easier for people who are shy or afraid of being recognized to participate in nudism. As usual those participating in nudity were outnumbered by those who were not. Been going there for years and this has always been true. In recent years though it seems the ballance of males to females participating has improved. Be prepared for for a long walk or a steep hike.

If you go to Blacks with a "newbie" - be sure you use the South (Main) trail and steps near the glider port area and NOT the steep and dangerous trail at the NORTH end of the beach. Parking is very difficult with all the UCSD students using the lots, but take the South Trail where parking is most difficult. I was there last month and no one was wearing masks on the beach.
Also... be very careful in the water - there are MANY sting rays in the shallow water, hiding under the sand... shuffle your feet into the water and watch out!!! The bite is incredible painful (it's actually a stab and then when the serrated barb pulls out, there is poison injected into you. ) I usually go around in circles - like a dog finding a place to lay down - shuffling through the water, then I sit down in shallow water that I have literally. I grew up at Blacks, and I rarely go far into the water any more - the marine life is out of balance because this is a preserve - so there is no 'natural selection' with fishing, etc..
But it is all worth the incredible beauty and freedom! Have fun!

RE:Is it still nude beach? 2021 update anyone know

Years ago we were trying to get into the beach and we were at the gate to get into the beach and we were told that we had to pay 10 bucks to make it to the beach. Then she heard my little one in the back seat bark and said no dogs were allowed to stay in the car or on the beach.

Is this a paid beach or a free beach?

Are there any maps or anything that can get you to the right place?
