Who I'd like to meet
Someone with a gentle, slightly off-center soul, who can talk about music and art all night long. Someone who can appreciate the beautiful ache of a perfect pop song and who doesn't mind dancing spontaneously in the kitchen. It would be wonderful if they also happened to share a deep love for British Invasion bands!
My Interests
Well, naturally, making music and writing songs comes first. But beyond that, I love reading a really absorbing novelthe kind that transports you entirelyand I'm completely fascinated by knitting and yarn. I also really enjoy just wandering around old neighborhoods, looking at the architecture, and soaking up the atmosphere.
Movies
But in all seriousness, I love films that feel intimate and soulful. I adore the humor and style of the Austin Powers movies (and playing Gillian Shagwell in Ming Tea was such a blast!), but I also have a soft spot for gentle, classic romantic comedies and anything that captures the nostalgic feeling of youth.
Music
Oh goodness, this is the hardest one! I'm completely devoted to the classics: The Beatles, of course, The Beach Boys (especially the Pet Sounds era), and all those gorgeous 60s bands like The Zombies and Big Star. Ive also been lucky enough to collaborate with Matthew Sweet, and I always adore anything he does. And, of course, the enduring magic of The Bangles always has my heart.
My Heroes
Definitely John Lennon and Paul McCartney for their songwriting genius.
