RE:Who else does nude night walks in the neighborhood?

You quoted me so I assume you read it.

I said ran on renewables.

Manufacturing was not mention , simply because its the same regardless of how its then powered.

I also found it funny that they had to turn windmills off? Talk about poor engineering! LOL! The problem is the carbon, as we burn more we create more, Oceans warm.

Not sure why turning a windmill off is funny.

They get turned on and off as power demands change throughout the day.

The problem is that when wind generators are asked to turn off/reduce power below what they could be producing they are paid to do so. So you end up paying them to do nothing.

No you cant ignore the carbon footprint of manufacture and shipping it all counts. I live in the UK. Buying a device manufactured in the UK rather than China will have a smaller carbon footprint.

I am on what my supplier tries to convince me is a 100% renewable tariff. But the electricity that comes into my house is not guaranteed to be 100% renewable. One I am a long way from the wind plants in the north, gas plants are far closer, so are interconnects from Europe. The national grid has a website that displays the makeup of your electricity in a semi real time manner. Thus winter our electricity has routinely been 80% from gas generation. That is despite wind turbines in other parts of the country being forced to shut down as they cant get the power to where it is needed. 100% renewable tariff, they are having a joke.

1. I never dismissed manufacturing. I indicated that it was irrelevant to the argument as to what type of energy is used to run the device.

2. Both coal power stations and wind farms regulate how much power they output due to the needs of the grid at any specific time. Peak, daytime. Off peak, night time.

Its easy to produce electricity but not so easy to store it, so it gets used as needed. Therefore a static wind turbine does not mean its broken or a waste of space.. it means we dont need as much electricity at that particular moment in time.

Its the same for coal. A coal power station might only run at 10% capacity at night.

Not denying the benefits and need for clean renewable energy. But there is a lot of hype masking some of the realties. Eg here in the UK wind generators in the north often get turned off because they are generating too much. Because the grid cant get the power to where it is needed. So although, in theory, the country could be 100% renewable powered they are still running gas generators in other read to cover the demand.

I will repeat this is funny in a stupid way. The wind mills are turned off because the grid isnt engineered properly. Thats not the windmills fault its the dumb ass who designed the system to work.

Now understand my point?

I also believe some of your other points are weak also. It takes energy to mine coal and oil, and it still is transported by carbon. Now how it gets the name renewable. You keep burning more over and over to fill your need. Once a renewable is set in place it keeps working for 20 to 30 years. No con going on, people who want fresh air and clean water for future generations.

Forgive me, I assumed from your previous post that you were unsure on how the national grid works.

I was completely wrong on that, and now that youve pointed out that its all the fault of some dumb ass engineer, Ill be writing to my MP demanding they hire a better one.
