what type is the best. What size do they come in. How effective are they compared to other types of campers....

I have a fwd delica with side awning. I have a nice tent that zips onto this. I felt unless you were going to camp with the crocodiles a rooftop wouldn't be necessary. Although Rhino do a good one.
