Spent a few hours at Gunnison today. First surprise: the lower access road is open! All repaved and everything. No need to go up by the lighthouse and loop back down anymore.
On our way out around 3 pm we got our second surprise: the restrooms are open! Sinks, toilets, urinals, hand dryers - all working! So weird because they definitely weren't open when we got there at 9 am. The showers aren't working yet, but at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if they have them up and running in a couple weeks.
Still no snack shack, though. Word is they'll start back up once the Seagull's Nest reopens, which is supposed to be sometime in July.
It was a beautiful day! So great to see so many people there, too.

Correction - the Seagull's Nest may not open at all this year, according to another beachgoer. That sucks!!

To bad the showers are not like they used to be. They were indoors where you could get completely nude and they were used more back then than they are now being outdoors.

Never knew the showers were inside. How long ago was that? As long as I have been going there the showers were always outside.

Years ago the showers were inside which was better because you could wash the sand out from the areas you cant with a suit on. Wish they had indoor showers again.
