I would love to permanently remove some of my hair. Amazon has some laser units for home use. Does it really work?

I have a friend who has one he got off Amazon. I tried using it but didn't work very well on my ginger pubes.

No I am sorry to tell that IPL laser devices only work on light skin with dark hair. It will not work on blonde ,red or gray hair. It also will dark skin. The technology needs the contrast of light and dark.
