Makes 5k Race!

AANR 5k Series

As a runner in South Texas I have always wanted to strip down and run naked mostly because I was just hot. As I have learned more about naturism and my love for trail running I have decided to run a naked 5k. I am shooting for Chilly Cheeks on October 5 , 2024 at Star Ranch. Hopefully it goes well and maybe 2025 I can complete the series. Training starts now and fingers crossed but I think I planted the seed in wifes ear early enough that maybe she will accompany me for the weekend.

Has anyone else done a naked 5k? Do you have any tips especially for training?

Why not do your first one in warmer weather?

Awesome - good for you. Always wanted to do a naked 5k run (walk) but bit past my ability now with creaky knees. Keep us updated on your successful endeavor.

My fastest 5K times are all nude. Before I tore my Achilles tendon I finally ran a sub 30 minute 5K at Cypress Cove (28:28, how can I forget). Combo of a dead flat course and running nude were the perfect combo for a great run. Im finally coming up on 2 years since the tear so I can run again, but Im very out of shape. My goal is to be back in shape for the 2025 Lake Como 5K next April, but I might start with this years color run at our home resort Solair in June. Ill be lucky to come in below 45 minutes, but it will get me back into running.

My tip for train

(never type a reply on your iPad while in bed!)

My tip for training is do as much as you can nude. It can get boring and running nude makes it more fun.

I have run 5k races many times but none naked. I love to try that sometime. I wish you luck. For training always try running longer than the distance you are racing and run with some heavier weight than you will run on race day with, i.e. wrist weights or ankle weights. Does not have to be much a couple lbs is enough, but up to you. As far as the running naked part try to find a confortable way to run that soots you and does not cause too much discomfort.

If youve never ran nude, definitely make your first easier by listening to your body. Running nude versus clothed is just as different as trail and road races. Slow down and enjoy the race. Ive known some women who wore sports bras during the race being extra gifted there. And sunscreen is a good thing to have too.

I like the wrist & ankle weight idea. It might help me get back to where I was in less time, plus I can still run nude with them. I have been looking for $200 worth of training gear for 2024, since my health insurance has a reimbursement up to that amount, so maybe I should order some!

And I agree with mikeny and BareSnoop, start slow and make sure you are comfortable running nude to start. But once you are sure it is comfortable, getting to run nude takes a lot of the work out of training. It sounds like you are already motivated on the training side and just have to make sure running nude won't be a problem. You might get some chafing that you didn't get when running in clothes, so you might need to get some (or use more than you do now) thigh saver. I didn't have any problem with that but I know some who do.

Hi, I have not ran a nude 5K in many years. I hope to do some again. My advise would be to think about how a race is different than a normal solo run. Be prepared to run at various speeds, including sudden slow downs when track gets crowded. I am sure you will do great!

And dont run flat out to keep up with the pack! But this would be advice for someone who has never run a 5K, not someone who has not run a nude one.

Thanks everyone for the great advice and encouragement. I have been a runner for a long time and have done many 5ks but never an official nude one. The past couple weeks I have been able to run a few 4 milers on the trails nude. I am feeling more comfortable just being at pace and actually training naked. I want to be comfortable running naked and not have my first experience be over whelmed by the fact that not only am I running a 5k but now Im naked. I will keep everyone posted.

Oh also I love running with weights I prefer a weighted vest over ankle and wrist weights though.
