Been to several of these for skinny dipping, especially the rail trails. The big lakes are hard to find a secluded place unless after dark. Some of the best are along the Raccoon River Valley bike trail west of Adel. just follow the paths to the water.

Great RAGBRAI story. This used to happen every time the route crossed a stream or pond but since everyone carries a phone it has had unfortunate effects on this.
