Meditation; Scientific Proof That It Works.

Many years ago I watched a live TV experiment in which volunteers were connected up to brain activity monitors as they lay resting on beds. One man was sleeping normally after a mild sedative , another was under hypnosis, while a third man who was a yoga practitioner, went into deep relaxation by meditating. As we know, the brain is never completely 'asleep,' but is constantly working, processing, and managing the body. The sleeping man's monitor showed quite a lot of brain wave activity, which is normal, while the hypnosis subject showed slightly less vigorous activity. The yogi however, showed perfectly low, almost flat, harmonic brain waves. When the subjects were awakened after the test, the first two were slightly groggy, as most people are after awaking from a deep sleep. The yogi sat up, instantly aware, appearing calm and rested, with a peaceful smile. That is what started me meditating, lying down, letting my mind drift, and relaxing totally. It works for me!
