Celebrity Naked Ambition

Did anyone else see this program on Channel 4 last night (UK)?
Interesting 'countdown' of celebrities who have done nude scenes in films etc. but I did think it was a bit too sexual with only a few 'simply nude' scenes. They also missed out some great examples which was a shame.

I watched this and agree, it was more about he sex than anyhting and only wo examples of male nudity, not very biased i thought

RE: Celebrity Naked Ambition

I think there are a number of reasons why there is more female nudity in films.
Firstly you can show a lot of a woman without showing much more than 'bums and breasts', even full frontal is nearly always with a 'full bush' so you only see hair, men have a lot more to show (full frontal) and if they show anything less it is hardly considered nude.
The second reason is because a guy will go and watch a film to see a naked female star but I think most women prefer a good story-line :)

Have you seen the 1994 film Sirens with Hugh Grant and Elle Macpherson. Great film, everyone should make sure they find time to see it.
Yes, a great example of non-sexual nudity as well as touching on the prejudices to nudity

RE: Celebrity Naked Ambition

Even with the hint of titillation involved in the program, it clearly shows that a person can keep his/her dignity even after public exposure. It also says these people will be nude/naked (not worried about difference here) for their career and as just another day on the job. If the program had been about porn stars, it would have been a different matter but most of us realize that healthy sexuality (as one facet ofa full life) does not need to be hidden away as degenerate or evil either. A child in a class of mine recently stated that she (11 years old)would see any movie with any degree of violence in it as long as it did not contain kissing. Something seriously wrong with thinking that affection is more disturbing than a killer robot ripping people in two. I would far rather a person be shown getting out of bed after coitus with nothing on than magically appearing with their negligee or shorts back in position. Who dresses in bed after enjoying each other nude?? (Sorry for the rambling! (:)

I agree with your comments about the weird attitude to violence V's nudity. Thankfully very few of us will see someone get shot in the head in real life but we can see it every day on TV. We will all (well 99.99%) have sex with someone - yet that is often taboo in TV/movies

But I think that's exactly the difference, we can watch most violence and our minds tell us "It's fake" but sex is more realistic. (most of the time)
