CNR Feb 2021 Newsletter:
It is with great excitement that we are announcing Calgarys newest clothing optional beach, located in Fish Creek Park. Many of you may have been to Hidden Beach near the Glennfield Day Use Area this last summer.
In January 2021 we received final word from the park authorities regarding our intent to begin using Hidden Beach as a clothing optional recreation area.
Ultimately, the answer we got was expected, and we find it extremely fair and respectable. Our position has continuously been that people who engage in nude recreation deserve equal treatment, and this is what we are getting. Their answer also confirms that their interpretation of the law is closely aligned with ours.

The highlights of the decision are:
The park authorities do not monitor or approve individual uses of the park, and our use would be no different.
It is on the onus of all park users to ensure the quiet enjoyment and safety of others, and that all activities are lawful.
Any complaints would be handled on a case-by-case basis and investigated if warranted. This includes complaints made by those offended by nude recreation, along with complaints made by us if park regulations were violated by anyone interrupting our peaceful enjoyment of the park.
It was requested that we refrain from conveying that the location is sanctioned or condoned by park authorities.

What Does That Mean?
To some, it may appear that the park authoritys answer doesnt clarify much of anything. However, compared to the original response several months ago, it represents a significant amount of progress.
Specifically, they will not proactively impede our use at this location for nude recreation. They will treat us like every other park user, and they confirmed that the regulations that protect park users right to quiet peaceful enjoyment of the park applies equally to us. They acknowledged that complaints made by us will be treated equally as any other complaint they receive.
We asked to be treated the same as every other park user, and that is exactly what we are getting.

Open Use as a Clothing Optional Beach
Once it warms up, we welcome people to visit and use Hidden Beach any time they choose. CNR is usually opposed to solo nude recreation because a lone individual does not convey the same meaning as a group of people. However, having an area where nude recreation is common alleviates this issue.
We believe everyone, including lone individuals, have a right to access opportunities for nude recreation without fear of persecution by the law and without offending the public. This location meets both of those needs.
However, please be courteous if there happens to be clothed people at that location when you show up. We need to ensure that this location continues to be trouble free, and it will take everyones help to do that.

How You Can Help
As this location is new to nude use, please email us with your experiences at this location at CalgaryNudeRecreation@Gmail.com.
Our goal is to firmly establish this location for use as a clothing optional area by putting Hidden Beach on the public radar. If you have been to this location with us last summer, please leave a TripAdvisor review.
