Small Group Trip to Nude Beach at Martha's Vineyard Island (MA)

Supporters of Pilgrim Naturists of New England, a long-time TNSF affiliate, will be hosting a day trip to the nude beach area on Martha's Vineyard Island (Massachusetts) on Saturday, July 17, and Saturday, August 28, 2021. This trip is being operated by experienced travelers to this beach. The trip will show you how to get there on your own, and answer questions. Pilgrim has been arranging these two summer excursions for over 20-years. Average attendance is usually 8-20 people. Couples and singles welcome. LGBTQ friendly.

Costs when summed up, which includes parking, round-trip ferry fare, and a shared on-island transport that we hire to and from the beach can average $50-$60. This is comparable to a similar day-use trip to a landed club. Persons traveling with us must pre-register so we can contract enough transports to the beach. This can range from several island taxis to one or more multiple-seat vans. They pick us up near the ferry dock, deliver us to an easy access point to the beach, and return later in the day at a pre-defined time to return to town. Participants traveling with us will be responsible for a $25.00/per person cash ride share fee that the trip coordinator will collect on the island before the taxis/vans depart. Arrival at the beach is late morning (about 11-11:30 AM) and return pick-up is late afternoon (about 3:00 PM).

This is a bare-bones beach, no pun intended. No services, no lifeguards. You need to plan to bring everything you will need. Poor swimmers take notice -- there have been riptides in this area in the past. Indeed, it's pretty much like most out-of-the-way skinny dipping beaches.

We have a web page set up for this trip at: https://www.sunclad.com/pilgrim/events.shtml Please see this page for details. Contact the email addresses provided with specific questions. No fees are required in advance but we do need you to register to attend so we can plan on-island transport.

All parking fees, ferry fares, personal supplies are on your own. You will only be asked for a $25-cash shared cost fee, per person, for the shuttle on island. If you travel from any ferry other than Woods Hole (MA) we need to know what ferry and what dock it will arrive at (Oaks Bluff or Vineyard Haven).

You do not need to be a member of Pilgrim, TNSF, AANR, or FCN. We do expect that you will observe appropriate behaviors. Samples of Nude Beach Etiquette can be found at the following:

Special Notes: On the day we posted this, the island ferry Steamship Authority web site was not working due to a hack attack. They have set up a special temporary page with fares, schedules, and rates which is detailed on Pilgrim's page above. Any fees the Pilgrim page publishes are from 2019 as a guide only. Please reference specific ferry pages or call for info for this year's specific rates. The above page also has an alternate web site to review that the ferry company has created.

Ferry boats and taxis/van shuttles are deemed to be public transport vehicles. Unless Massachusetts changes its policy for these vehicles by trip time, face covers are still required on public transport vehicles regardless of COVID vaccination status.

Legal Disclaimer: Nudity on beaches in most towns on MV Island are a civil infraction, similar to that of a parking ticket. That said, the beach we use is known as a traditional nude beach and is often left on its own by local authorities. We are not aware of any enforcement in recent years.
