Blue Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos)

I live in California, where the climate is very similar to yours. We have lots and lots of Australian plants and trees growing all over that get very little pampering. I've seen Kangaroo Paw growing in yards, but I haven't seen the blue one yet. It's a new hybrid from the Australian Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority. Does anybody have any experience growing it?
