what the heck is a home nudist

I chat with many who say they are "home nudist " how is being at home nude make you a nudist ? who doesn't go around they're home nude , bathe , sleep . to me a nudist is one who sheds they're clothes at home but also outside and becomes one with nature . someone who is comfortable being nude with others at a nudist resorts/camp , beach and would have no problem if legal in public weather going to the store , restaurant or stopping at the gas station and filling your gas tank. if "home nudist" is a thing than we all have been nudist since we were born .

Nudists reach certain nudist levels in their behaviour. What you describe is the highest level. Nude showering is not a nudist behaviour. But if you are longer nude, let's say one hour after the shower it is nudist behaviour on a low level. A home nudist is more nude at home than a textile. We old guys learnt nudism at the beach, right? The younger generation googles "nudism" and starts beeing nude at home. Especially during the covid crisis many people started with home nudism. We should welcome these home nudists and bring them to the next level.

RE:what the heck is a home nudist

This is a very good question.

Speaking personally, we were always casual with clothes at home and had been going nude at the beach for years before we even thought of ourselves as nudists.

It was only through interacting with others and making nudist friends that we finally started telling people we were nudists. (Real life, not internet)

Thats our journey into nudism, but understand that others have very different experiences.

There have been many threads over the years with people (men) saying they are new nudists, and wanting to get into nudism like its like taking up knitting. Many have confused nudism with other things, some still do.

Weird people thing never wearing underpants makes them nudists, or even worse throwing out all there clothes and only ever wearing a babys sock over their cock when they need to get a stamp from the post office.

So in my opinion, unless you actually get out and meet other nudists, youll never understand what it really means. If you only ever do it on line, then you end up believing lies and fantasies and stupidly repeating them thinking they are facts.

Get a real life and youll keep it real here.

I believe that a lot of people are rarely nude at home except in the shower and at some intimate moments. My wife is one of them. So were my parents. Surveys show that only a small minority sleep nude, at least in the US.

The term "home nudist" carries varied meanings across the spectrum of those who practice it. In my own experience, this concept has evolved through distinct phases for me:

1) In the beginning, home represented a sanctuary where I could shed my clothes before I'd even discovered the term "nudist" or realized I belonged to a larger community with similar preferences. Those private rooms became my laboratory for understanding my own comfort with nakedness. As time passed, the concept of "home" expanded to include social spacesboth my own and those of like-minded friendswhere clothing remained optional. I've come to understand that many people find complete fulfillment in home nudity alone, cherishing the unmatched sense of safety and tranquility that comes with being unclothed in one's personal space.

2) Now, many years later, my relationship with nudity has evolved beyond mere home comfort. While home remains a clothing-free sanctuary, I've expanded into social nudismparticipating in gatherings or venturing to designated spaces like resorts, beaches, and clubs. The boundaries between private and public nudity have blurred; home is just one of many environments where I can authentically exist without textile barriers.

While I fully embrace those who find their nudist expression solely within home walls, I've encountered many individuals at the threshold of something more. For these curious souls, a gentle invitation to wider experiencesperhaps a small gathering or information about a welcoming beachcan open doors they've been quietly contemplating. The journey from private to social nudism deserves patient guidance, always respecting each person's unique pace and boundaries.

It may seem normal to be nude at home to us, but for many even walking around nude at home would be strange. As Marcus says, you have to start somewhere and at home is a safe way to start. As you build up confidence you can start expanding your nude experiences to more social ones. Even with 15 years as a nudist, my first nude yoga class this summer was uncomfortable. Most of the members at our nudist resort dont get nude for yoga, so I didnt either. The next weekend was young naturist weekend and Mrs. J&C also went. We decided to go nude to make any visitors more comfortable going nude (it worked, by the way). From that weekend on I felt comfortable practicing yoga nude, even though I was in the minority (or even the only one) being nude. The same would probably happen if it were legal to go to the store nude. I've done it at Club Orient in St. Martin, but being in a public store where not everyone was nude? It would take a while before it was no problem.

Finally, something that can be fact checked. I searched. Survey of nude sleeping in the USA. Here is what I got.

Surveys on sleeping nude in the US show varied results, with some finding a low preference for it (around 17%) while others suggest a higher percentage of people do it at least sometimes (e.g., 28.5% in a Casper survey, though not all nightly). The Better Sleep Council's 2022 report indicated that about 21% of US adults sleep nude a few times a week or more, though the majority (74%) wear pajamas or nightshirts.

Ive no idea which survey you read, but 21% is not a small minority.
