How to respond to a friend request?

I am new here and don't know how to act when getting friend requests with a few nice sentences. Before clicking "accept" I want to know more about this person. When opening their profile there are no stored pictures where I can see how this person looks like. Is the only possibility to communicate with that person by sending a personal message from the profile?

If there isnt enough detail visible on the profile to make you feel comfortable then just ignore the request. I wouldnt worry about digging deeper. I would definitely ignore requests from women who have only recently joined TN and have accumulated a large number of friends. They are quite likely to be fake/scam profiles.
