Spiritual or religious ties with nudism

What, if any, religious or spiritual reasons are there for
nudism? What is your opinion?

I'm not an Atheist but not big into *organized* religion either. And from that perspective, I see no conflict between religion and nudism. No specific ties either. They seem as compatible to me as any other universally acceptable activity.

The reason I ask is some pagans and Wicca perform some ceremonies and magic skyclad (nude). For them nature is part of the divine and they are getting closer to it. That is my understanding. I could be wrong maybe someone from one of those groups could enlighten us.

I found this quote today.
The human body can remain nude and uncovered and preserve intact its splendor and its beauty Nakedness as such is not to be equated with physical shamelessness Immodesty is present only when nakedness plays a negative role with regard to the value of the personThe human body is not in itself shameful . Shamelessness (just like shame and modesty) is a function of the interior of a person.
Pope John Paul II

It is in our base nature to be Natural, not NakedNaked implies vulnerability. Being in your Natural state should not make you feel embarrassed, vulnerable, sexually aggressive/exhibitionist, or make you a creepy Sexual pervert stalker predator.I really like this thought. I think 'nude' is sort of a neutral word. If you look at the Bible verses that refer to nakedness, it often is in a vulnerable situation. Thanks for sharing that thought.

A good book that covers this in part is "A Brief History of Nakedness" by Philip Carr-Gomm. I think he is a druid but he covers other religions as well.
