Security Cameras

Return to Discussions

I recently had my business and home loaded up with security cameras and not the few hundred $$$ cheapo's. I gave my IT guy requirements that my home was to be hack proof and locked down not lofted into net or sent to the "cloud". That in itself seemed to be almost magic as everything is pushed cloud based these days.

My IT guy runs his own servers and monitors security for his clients but I will confess I am not use to cameras running in the house 24/7. I have history with the guy and has always called to ask permission to log onto my puters when he is alerted to a problem and the same with the cameras. One thing I have learned your IT guy has seen anything you have done on your machine. Still a little nervy at this point even though I already know he has already seen us as we are after 1000+ pics.

RE:Security Cameras

As an IT guy who is I trusted with the access to clients computers, one of the things I do is to try and ensure them that there personal data is safe and that there is no judgement from me on anything that I find.. A lot of viruses and malware come from porn sites. Often it is not the client that is visiting the sites but someone that they let use their computer.

I usually dont need to view photos or videos unless it has been flagged as a problem.

I have only one client that had cameras inside of his home, he was a grower and wanted to keep an eye on his crops. I had to show him how to playback video one day. During the playback he and his wife were having sex in camera view. That may have been what he was looking for. He just asked me not to tell his wife. We never spoke of it again.

RE:Security Cameras

Our IT guy has always called and asked permission to log into our puters when he has an alert or we call for crash. I know we would be at a business stand still with out his attentiveness. One thing I have learned in business it's not necessary a good thing to be a top client as he has termed us. I changed Ins companies many years after it was mentioned I was there best customer. I started shopping and it was half the rate for twice as much coverage.

IT guy is still working on our camera system given our internet provider has let the infrastructure dilapidated. Always he has called for permission to log in to test or view cameras. Plan "B" has to be gone to and hard wire them. In this house getting from point A to B is like raising the titanic for I would know as I pulled all the new electric.

All this has frustrated my dear Luann and when I broke the news network cable is going to be instead of wifi now and I quote .."I'm not saying anything all with a soft voice with a grimace frown " I know my dearly beloved very well she is over it all. Some of it might be she is not use to have security cams running.

We love our IT team. Very respectful of the privacy all these years and always responds to my 911 distress call when our business puters or internet has problems. Loads of respect to IT people. I maybe able to tear a furnace or AC down to 100 pieces, fix it and put it back together but I cant or shouldn't attempt fixing software.
