Why is clothing need to be optional? - Part 2

Return to Discussions

We are still not willing to
recognize and refuse to pay attention to this simple fact of life; that clothes
are a tool like any other tools. Use them (sparingly!) when needed and keep it
aside when their purpose is accomplished...We have not justified ourselves why
we need to be fully clothed all the time; To convince the general public for
taking up Naturism/ Nudism, the Naturists themselves (apart from the
literature, journals, recommendations, testimonials etc) will stand for the
justification...

The way Naturists live
their life joyfully, enjoying every moment of life, being in touch with fresh
air and light with sound health and spiritual development being the notable
outcome of practising Nudity to the extent possible...

People are heavily clothed
even during summer, sweat profusely and cause so much of suffering to the
body...They then run to doctors when affected by ailments / diseases unaware of
the fact that this sweat (due to heavy clothing) could as well be the reason
for their health issues which anyway the doctors aren't aware!

When a person is naked
among a group of nude people, he is not attracted or desires does not arise in
his mind (this will happen in due course of time; there may be some excitation
to start with). Whereas, while seeing a picture or a person who is dressed
smartly or beautifully, desires and attractions rise up in one's mind.

This absence of the craving
or desires(say, for example sexual desires) in one's mind while being nude in a
nudist gathering and being able to avoid creating such thoughts in others minds
(for the one who is naked), is the spiritual aspect of practising Nudism/
Naturism...

Another positive aspect is
that we can do away with, is the excessive thinking related to shopping, about
the kind of clothes we need to buy / stock up etc. If our clothing requirements
are minimal, our utilization of thoughts towards that will also be greatly
reduced. Doing away with thoughts, is the highest spiritual practice and living
a naturist life is a big step towards that goal!

And, if the Naturism /
Nudist way of life is explained with these associated spiritual & health
aspects that comes along with it, it will be that much easy to convince the
general public and slowly they will get attracted towards embracing the naturist
way of life...

Being naked, there will not
be divisions in the society; we are all equal without clothes covering us up.
Equality, Simplicity, child like, being without desires /attractions that comes
with the way we dress up in the society - all these qualities come when nudism
is practiced with the right understanding...

A lot of awareness
campaigns & meetings need to be conducted so that many more can tune their
life into this healthy spiritual practice (All of us - the Naturists, are
spiritual people as explained earlier, only we need to be aware of that! and
the kind of peace, silence and joy we experience would be a major factor in
getting more people into this spiritual platform of Naturism) , which is really a boon for their
physical, mental and spiritual well being!

I think it is very true what you say about sexual desires or excitation that we may feel when naked with others.

The feeling usually disappears very quickly and being naked in a group feels very natural thereafter.

I believe there is a lot of confusion in the wider nudist community (and very much on this site) about the relationship between nudity and sexuality. It is a much discussed topic. From a spiritual point of view, we all grapple with our desires (sexual or otherwise), whether we are nudists or not, when we seek to evolve spiritually. But desire is also natural. We should examine it in ourselves and not allow it to control us.

I do not believe that living a spiritual life is all about abstinence. Rather, it is about finding balance. We can enjoy those things we desire in life when enjoyed in moderation and balance, and when we are not controlled or consumed by them.

My first thought after reading this post was not very eloquent. It was "yep", as in that says it. However, I will add that we need clothes to protect us from the elements, cold, bugs, and etc...., but out side of that why limit the largest sensory organ we have especially when in nature. Isn't the point to connect not disconnect. Textile is a barrier to the natural world. Incidentally, I have noticed that my temperature comfort range is larger naked than lightly clothed, if the sun is out. The upper end is easy to explain - the bodies temperature regulation system can function as designed. On the lower end, the sun is just better able to warm you. Plus cold air when naked just seems to waken the body and mind compared to having it seep through your clothes.

abstinence - will mean differently according to the aspirants...
moderation in everything is what is meant here as an important aid on spiritual path.
This is true for sexual relationships too...
The principal aim is to go beyond thoughts...
When ones focus is on the spiritual practice, then naturism will naturally support that. that is the central theme..

sooooo true i searched for something hidden inside ladies clothes all my life .It is only when i went to my first nudist colony that i saw that there was nothing to hide (or show for that matter) only then could i start looking for real connection and found it .Nudity for me was a great spiritual awakening. I love living in the real world ,removing my mask and my clothes, nothing to hide .Getting real
