Artistic Photos

This is a place to post your "artistic" photos for others to view and enjoy. However you choose to define "artistic" is up to each individual. The genesis of this idea for me was having taken some shadow/silhouette photos, wanting to share them, but not really knowing where to post them. They are "soft" nude photos that are more provocative than explicit. Hoping...

Great model, great pose and lighting. I would not change this photo at all, but, sorry if I go on a bit about it, there does seem to be a double standard related to nude photographs which is insitutionalised by TN photo rules. The entirety of men's genitals (penis and scrotum) is regarded as acceptable) but women are expected to conceal the majority of their genitals. In a nudist situation that puts women at a considerable disadvantage - it is not possible to sit or lie down in an unrestricted way without showing far more of our genitals than is considered acceptable by TN. That means that the depiction of women on this site does not have the uninhibited and natural range that male photos can potentially show. There are signs that attitude may be changing - I have a batch of photos awaiting approval as profile pics and we will see how things go once the approval decisions are made.

Great photo idea, but technically this version is not too good - blurry and obviously over-compressed, possibly repeatedly.
If I had been involved I would have looked for a bit of additional erotic tension n the setting - I find most erection photos, if not gross, at least remarkably obvious and lacking any artistic merit, but in this setting I think a fully erect penis would be a great improvement.

As a historical record this is most amusing, even if the context is unexplained. How quaint to see all the "naked" women forced to wear identical "flesh-coloured" g-strings.

Routine nude, great model, lovely lithe figure, shapely profile to her bottom. To my mind it looks dated but lacks the excitement of true "retro" which the previous photo had to some extent.

A matching pair of photos - imaginative compositions and a great pair of models. There is adiscreet and rather arousing glimpse of a penis - I am just surprised it is not fully erect in the company of the female half of the photo - she has long legs and hair and a fabulous squeezable bottom. Her pubic hair is a dark tempting shadow and we also see a beautifully-shaped breast with an areola and nipple in perfect proportion.
Thanks to Raymond for setting up this group - hope we can have many more comments soon.

RE: A Few Picture Comments

Hi Pamela! How DO we leave comments on group photos? I don't mind members commenting on my own work, and it's encouraging to have constructive criticism. (I like your photos by the way). I've uploaded some but they haven't appeared in the group yet.Best wishes, Dave

Thank you Pamela69 for your comments about my two self-portraits with the long hair women (Leslie). As I recall, there were times during that shoot when my penis was fully erect and standing straight up.Wayne

Basically you post the image to a discussion page and then write your comment.

From the point of view of technique, did you use a self-timer or did someone else take them.
Please pass my compliments to Leslie - as well as the long hair, she has a delicious bottom and wonderful shapely breasts.

There is a problem in submitting photos for comment here. I have found the restrictions for acceptability to be greater for male subjects than for females. Some of my pictures have been rejected despite the poses being similar to those already seen in published photos of women. I just tried submitting the same photo, not even a very bold one, to both this group and the equivalent on TS. Only the latter survived. I have in the past had to resort to emailing photos to interested forum members for comment, my address for this purpose being pposeur@gmail.com.

Hi Pamela,

I've tried to post erection shot here and they always get
rejected. I used a self-timer with about a 10 second delay. Now with a couple
of my digital cameras I use a remote shutter release. So much easier. I've been
taking nude self-portraits since 1965. They have been in show in art galleries
in the DC area and also in a show in the Virginia Museum of Fine Art in
Richmond. It was the only male nude in the show.

I'll try to post and erection self-portrait here with
another female model and see what happens. This image was in a group show at
The Washington Project for the Arts

I agree. In the classes Ive taken, the critiques of fellow classmates work has often been the most valuable part of the class. I would like to start with this picture of Pamela. It seems appropriate since she has started the process.

To begin with, the subject is a strikingly attractive woman. However, I have a problem with calling the image artistic. The image is a straight forward shot of her breasts. Neither the angle or the cropping is sufficient to create an abstract. This makes the image more sexual than artistic. Much of the beauty of a woman is the sinuous curves of her body. And much of her personality is shown in her face, neither of which are shown here.
I also have a problem with the use of gray. I know this is a personal bias. And I have heard all of the arguments in favor of the use of this format. But in my opinion, the lack of color drains the live of the image.
The lighting is another matter. The straight on view chosen is generally considered the least attractive of the myriad of choices available. One of the problems with it is that the symmetry of the image makes it hard to see the three dimensional form of the figure. But in this case, the photographer was quite successful in using lighting to show her sensuous form and preventing it from collapsing into a flat image.

It is easy in the digital era to forget the way photography was only 30 or so years ago.
The photo was taken in the studio during my first ever session as a volunteer nude model for fellow members of the local photographic club. The cost of materials was a very significant issue to many club members, and certainly to me as school girl. There was at that time very little colour film which could be amateur-processed, and the machinery needed to keep temperatures spot-on during processing was too expensive for individual photographers or even clubs to buy. In those circumstances, the only real option available for colour processing was the local photo shop or the film manufacturers for slide film.
Most club members were not prepared to entrust the processing of films of nude photographs to the photo shop because word would almost certainly get around that "so and so sent in a film of dirty photos to process", and there was real evidence that film manufacturers never returned films sent in with nude content on them. As far as I was concerned the risks felt very real; the guy in the local shop would probably recognise me, and that would have been very embarrassing to say the least, and possibly very risky if my parents got to know what I was really getting up to at the photograhic club. I wouldn't even have been able to send a "risky" slide film to the manufacturers because my parents would be bound to want to see my "snaps" when the box came back.
So, I won't say sorry for the "gray" which you mention!

I particularly like the intensity of the pose in this one, as her attention is totally fixed on him, and his on her. I also like the contrast in skin colour.
I love the composition here, a simple beauty reflected in the river water. Her light skin contrasts with the black background. And what a way to cool the beer!
