Barefoot Wallk

Walk without shoes, barefoot at all situations, experiences

Has anyone offered to buy shoes for you?

I've had this happen a few times and it's almost impossible to convince the person that I'm barefoot on purpose. It's so outside of their "box" that they cannot imagine someone's consciously choosing to not wear shoes.

One time it happened at a Donor Appreciation Banquet. In order to have been invited, you had to have giving a substantial sum to this particularly charity -- which I had done. Nonetheless, this female shoddy was totally convinced that I must be so very poor that I could not afford to buy shoes. She was convinced that I was just too proud to admit my need.

Another time, it was just some random guy who happened to see me walking in town. He, apparently, had taken it as his mission or calling to buy shoes for people -- whether they wanted them or not.

No, because I am rarely barefoot, but someone has offered to buy me a shirt.

I think it's rather funny how people project their own preferences on other people. I'm ALWAYS barefoot. If they would be uncomfortable in a given situation, then obviously so is everyone else.

"Aren't your feet cold?"
"No, but yours certainly must be hot and sweaty in those foot coffins you have them in."
"Oh, no. Not at all!"
"Well, wouldn't you imagine that if my feet were cold that I'd put shoes on?"

Maybe a t-shirt that says, "I'm not your stereotype."
