Recently, I read that Brook Shields, who went to Princeton, lived in the dorms her freshman year. She stated that because of people trying to get pictures of her nude, that she was forced to wear a swim suit when showering. How sad that she had to resort to this insane practice. But in her case, I understand the need to do so.

I know some think that these people are fair and open game because of their celebrity status but I don't buy into that at all. We've crossed paths with numerous celebrities and simply nodded, said hello/hi and on a few occasions, they've actually started a conversation with us but we never seek them out or take their picture without their permission. I'm sure most of them want to be treated as regular people and like many of us, they don't want to be instant friends with everyone.

Hey Andy, don't know if you were a GE ember at the time, and this is getting slightly off subject of showering in bathing suits, but since you brought up celebrities in general ... Mike from the Volleyball crowd told me how back in the early 90's Christopher Atkins (of Blue Lagoon fame who starred with Brook Shields) was married to some Playboy playmate and came to GE on several occasions. That ended when someone took their picture (fully nude) and sold it to the rags. So here was a fairly famous celeb who wanted to enjoy nude recreation with us normal folk at Glen Eden, and some Dumb**s with a camera ruined it for him and his wife. I agree Andy, they are not fair game, and one should respect a celeb's privacy as much as your own.

Don,
We were members at the time and heard the story but were not there. There are other celebs that like to visit C/O beaches or admit to being nude at home most of the time. Helen Mirren, Kate Hudson, Rhianna, Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence... If they would come out and promote nudism/naturism, it could give it a bit more credibility. What usually happens is that some talk show host or journalist asks about it, then the audience or journalist gives a giggle, and it turns into something naughty.

If we visit a place for the first time, I always check in with the front office and manager to tell them that we take pics of ourselves and of the grounds where no one is so we can share some pics online on naturist websites to promote their club/resort. They seem to be willing to allow us to do so, in some cases. If they refuse, we keep the picture taking to our site or when we're on a walk away from everyone.

RE:Now I've seen everything.

About 10 years ago, we were at a nude campgrounds in So Cal and they have a large open group shower area. I think that is all part of the social nudity. It is interesting that many women and possibly some men still hang on to certain modesties. While showering there was another couple opposite of us and the woman was shaving her armpits legs and pubic area. While she is in the middle of shaving he pubic area, her maybe 6 year old daughter came it and grabbed her arm to try to get her to come look at something. It was all just so natural. It is interesting to see women that try to still sit modestly or climb in and out of the pool without exposing too much. It just seems odd. As to this particular point and or need for the shower by the pool, it might have been the idea that by having it there allowed others specifically to be able to see that you have washed the necessary areas. It sort of would be an additional motivator for people to follow through without being told. Just a thought.
