Winter Kayaking!

Return to Discussions

I'm getting ready for a winter kayaking day trip. If any of you are from Oregon or Washington let me know if you are interested. I'm hoping for a snowy morning with no or light wind to put in at either Rooster Rock State Park or at the Collins Beach on Sauvie Island. With temps in the high 30's and low 40's we most likely won't be nude :(I'll be wearing my wet suit!

RE: Winter Kayaking!

I'll be sure to "well document" this event when or if it happens. I did this back in 2006. It snowed the night before and the next morning was sunny with no wind. I put in at the Scapoose Marina at 10:00. By 11:00 it was very cold and snowing again. I was by myself, no one else was willing to leave a nice warm home for a ice cold frozen kayak in ice cold frozen river. It was beautiful and ever so quite. My camera frozen!!!!! Lesson learned! Keep your camera warm! Oh well, I still have the memories :)
More on the way!
