I'm new to kayaking. I would like one I could carry on my RV I want to use it exercise and fishing. Can anybody give me some ideas on what to buy and what not buy

kayaks are like gloves they can fit you good or not so good imo, i started with a inflatable but it wasn't what i want next a old town vapor which paddles and tracks good but is a sit in and as i age it was hard getting into next a tamarack a sit on from wallyword i got a great deal during xmas a few year back and i really like it . oh a sit on is easier to fish from imo too. but again just me i love my canoe it give me room to stretch out and even stand in i use a kayak paddle to make it go and even a small 18# thrust trolling motor . hard to say but if you can find a place where they let you try them out first - some dealers have a inflatable pool to paddle around or maybe rent or find a friend you can try out. last bit i know you mentioned only kayak but since you mentioned camping you want something light again back to canoe take a look at the Sportspal canoes super light and stable.

Try-before-you-buy is difficult. I bought one second-hand off eBay many years ago and it has served us well. I knew nothing when I bought it and never even had anything to compare it to until last summer when I got to try a friend's one. He'd bought it new from a sporting store.

I found the new one to be a lot less stable and less easy to handle in water with small waves and found new appreciation for my 'old' one.

Edit: mine is a Frenzy by Ocean Kayak. They no longer seem to make that model but their website has a model called the Malibu, which looks like an updated version. They are a New Zealand company but are available in many places.

my first kayak was a cheap 2 person inflatable after i put a skeg on the back it tracked pretty good but wasn't what i wanted but the nice thing they are super compact if space is important not everyone in whitewater . and true about not always being able to try out a kayak or canoe but i've heard of a few places that do. my first kayak was a old town vapor 10 a sit in it was great tracked great and stable but my old legs don't bend like they use to so i bought a pelican canoe i love it although it's just a cheap plastic one it's held up good . i still wanted a kayak to kick around in so i bought a lifetime tamarack sit on to me this is a great starter kayak not to heavy and tracks pretty good and easy to fish from. again like a car it's a personal choice and how many of us bought a car and weren't happy so sold it and bought another , i've had aas many boat as i've had cars lol .
