Does your church know that you are a nudist?

Return to Discussions

My denomination is very conservative, but the people and local Pastors in general adhere to traditional Lurtheran beliefs of Grace and tolernance. Taking a biblical position we are to do in Rome as the romans do, that all things are lawful, but not all expedient and so often conflicted to admit being nudists and Christians.
What say you? How do you deal with it?

Once we are away from church, the discussion does not become religious, and the pastor does not push the Bible on anyone in our group.

Wow, keep this church. You have found a gem of non judgement.

Just recently left a small church that's on its last leg and started attending a much larger and more contemporary church. I'm sure if they knew I was a nudist I am still sure I would hear about it. LOL

When I was considering the ministry after retirement, I asked the candidate committee by mail, if being a nudist would prevent me from going into the ministry. I got no reply back from the main church. At the same time I told my Pastor at my local church what I did. My Pastor did not have any problems with me being a nudist. However, he advised me to continue the process but not pursue an answer to the question of being a nudist. So, yes the my Pastor at the time and the church did know, I was a nudist. I did not complete the process because I had a stroke.

I am Lutheran too, my church does not know and that is one issue I am struggling with. While I can reconcile nudism with the Bible, I have trouble reconciling the idea of hiding it. It seems like a lie.

It's quite possible that your pastor is understanding because he knows that God created man and woman and placed them on this earth naked. That he understands that to be naked in the presence of God is not a sin because sin comes from the heart and not the body. After all, He created Adam and Eve and they were naked. They did not become aware of their nakedness until after eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. And only when God confronted them on it, did they become ashamed of themselves and their bodies that they tried to hide it.

Being ashamed of the naked body comes from man and not from God.

By not being open about it isn't lying about it. It only becomes a lie when you are asked about it and then deny it.

There's a saying that goes something like: "There are two rules about sharing information: Rule #1) Don't share all of the information you know."

What I'm getting at is that only if you are directly asked or you've overheard conversations about you being nude, that's when to stand straight and let them know "I am and I'm not ashamed to be nude or around others who are nude. Why? Because being nude and around others who are nude isn't a sexual thing and isn't a sinful thing. Because sin comes from the heart and not from the body and if God has an issue with my nudity, I will gladly answer for it on my day of judgment. My being nude doesn't change who I am or how I treat others."

As a Mormon, I dont think its important for anyone to know. Its nobodys business. Not even my parents know. I doubt anyone would approve.
