Christian Nudists

We gather together for fellowship. To share about our relationship with God To tell of how we work out being a Christian and a nudist in daily living. We see nudism as a positive expression of our God given sexual nature.

Nudity = Innocence?

Hey all!

How great to see other Christians on the site! I am fascinated with the ideas and concepts surrounding nudity, especially ethical naturism.

I have always struggled throughout my life reconciling my innocent desire to be nude and what I was taught by my parents and church leaders about the body. It was difficult to feel good about myself and my intentions when I was told plainly that the body is shameful and evil when naked - but then the Bible teaches that men and women are created in the image of God?

My own experiences with nudism and naturism have only supported my extensive pondering about whether being naked is exactly how God intended for us to be, since thats how Adam and Eve were before sin entered the world. The beginning chapters of Genesis really caught my attention when I realized that God wasnt upset that Adam and Eve were naked, but rather that they hid themselves from Him and tried to cover themselves in His presence. Who told you that you were naked? Gods question wasnt focusing on the nudity at all, but rather that Adam and Eve were told about their nakedness and that they should be ashamed.

What are your thoughts? Id love to hear what my fellow Christians think about this!

I would agree. Their shame had nothing to do with their nudity. The shame was that they had broken their fellowship with God by their disregarding the guidelines hed laid down for them. They believed the lie of Satan and were deceived which brought shame.

Like you grew up being taught that nudity was a sin and was only nude in my room growing up. Bevame full time (as close as i csn be) in 1995 and love the feeling of being as God created us. I have read many bible verses that say the God created us nude and said it was good, and others that say phophets and kings worshiped and danced for God nude. So i believe it is not a sin just as alot of teachings of the church seem to be more man based and not God or biblical. It says that you should follow the laws of God without adding or subtracting anything to them. To my knowledge I have yet to find anything saying nudity is bad or forbidden. I wish I could have the ability to whorship in a church nude and with others as God made us. Sadly, i am restricted to worshipping him at home if i am nude.

Indeed, good to see believers who understand that, as others have said here, God created us without clothes and called it good. Sin came into the world and is now part of human make-up, regarless of whether we are clothed or not. Other examples, beyond Adam and Eve, always show being uncovered as part of sinful behavior. Also noted here, there are examples whennakedness is an act of service, including when Jesus washed the feet of His disciples.

Does nakedness encourage sin? I don't think so. It's a matter of the heart and we know the heart is "desperately wicked" whether we wear clothes or not. In fact, my temptation to be lustful is diminished in a nudist setting. In that context, the original question of whether nudity equals innocence is answered affirmatively.
