RE:First Church Baptism Nude?

I was baptized by immersion. It is a sorrow to me that I was not nude -- our congregation used white robes. The reason I haven't sought a nude do-over is that our Creed says, "we acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins." Thus I must walk in the faith that my baptism counts, and accept the sorrow of not having been nude as a burden of living in an imperfect world.

RE:First Church Baptism Nude?

I was joking with a friend that Jesus is the only person in all of history who showed up naked for Christmas, Easter, and Death, and lived to tell the tale. Of course, we can put baptism on that list too. I wore a white robe, and also dont feel a need for a do-over (but like the idea of a foot bath). That said, as my kids express interest, I may have the honor of baptizing one or more of them in the lake the old fashioned way.

I had a close friend years ago who as an adult wanted to get baptized in an orthodox church (Coptic). I accompanied him for support. I had assumed they would have a robe for him, but no dice. He was discretely baptized in the nude, no problem. This was before I was a naturist, and it gave me a lot of food for thought at the time. In retrospect, the symbolism of baptism as a metaphor for rebirth/birth from above is very compatible with wearing ones birthday suit.
