Unused Doorbell sign

Return to Discussions

I recently attached a small sign beside my doorbell that reads, "Clothing Optional Here. Ring Wisely!" Unfortunately, I have not had it used as yet. Last Sunday was a beautiful day which found me in my den. From the den one door opens onto a patio and another into the garage. I had both open as well as the garage door which let a wonderful light breeze sweep through the room. I had the TV on and was working on something in the den when I heard a noise in the garage and looked up to the door. In walked an Amazon delivery guy carrying a box. I was somewhat startled, not expecting any deliveries on Sunday. When he saw me, he dropped his eyes and stuck out the box for me to take. I thanked him, but he did not utter a word and could not get out of my garage fast enough!

A 'tree surgeon' was scheduled to come out today to look at a tree that had been planted in the wrong place decades ago and is now threatening the foundation of the house. I called him yesterday just to give him a 'heads up' that I am a nudist and would by nude when he arrived. I asked if he was OK with that. He told me he was uncomfortable with nudity and if I were to be undressed when he was here, it would be a deal-breaker. So, my sign has not been used yet. But sometime.........

Two down and many more to go, Olorin. Not everyone is that uptight, trust me. Better to give the tree surgeon a heads up and learn about his bias than have him get there and then leave.

He sounds like the type who will eye you suspiciously the entire time hes there, just in case you might suddenly rip your clothes off! LOL Scott

I told the tree surgeon that it was his choice. I would be naked in my own home. It was a deal breaker for him, so he chose not to come. More tree surgeons out there to choose from, though.

Right after I made this post today, a third delivery/service person showed up. This one was a UPS man (also delivering for Amazon - What's the world coming to?) who knocked on the door rather than using the bell. I opened the door to find him already almost back to his truck after dropping the package on the porch. UPS drivers have schedules, so perhaps he was just in a hurry, buy he didn't waste any time. He is certain to have seen the sign.

Thats pretty much SOP for UPS unless a signature is required. Drop, knock, and run.

I once had a UPS driver who was delivering the package with a new tv stand (assembly required, of course). I was sitting at the computer desk right around the corner from the apartments door, clothed, and by the time I opened it, she was getting back on the truck, with a No one was home. Your package is at the office. note on the door frame. Had to convince her that, since I was home, she needed to deliver it and that I could sign for it while holding my dog (dachshund). (Near as I could tell, since it was relatively heavy, she was playing the odds that no one would be there during the day, so shed make an attempt and just take it out of the truck once at the office.)

I admire your choice to move on from the intolerant tree surgeon. I realize now my opinion was off the mark. Well done! -Scott

I just put a little sign the says "nudists" on my front door. That way anyone who comes to the door will know what to expect when I answer it. Its always a fun rush answering it naked. Always fun seeing the reactions,,,never really had a bad one.

Agreed. Half the fun is getting the reaction from the person who gets to see you naked when u open the door. I have done multiple times. Sometimes I have told service men, ups to just come in thru the garage door to walk in on me nude. Its a rush to get caught like that.

My doorbell sign survived a real test a few days ago. Before I tell you about that incident, however, there is another quick story. Late one Sunday afternoon, I was hungry for Mexican food and knew of a Taco Bell not far away. I stopped in wearing shorts and a T-shirt that says, "Mind if I Take This Off?" The lady at the cash register said she liked it, so to continue the joke I grabbed the hem and began to lift it saying, "Well can I take it off then?" She laughed. That began a conversation about nudism. She had been stationed at an Air Force base in Germany for 8 years and said it is common to see nudity there. No one gets excited. They just take it in stride as what someone else wants to do. She said, "We are so closed minded here!" We spoke for about 3 minutes and I left feeling that it was a very positive encounter.

Barely an hour later, I was back at home in the den when the doorbell rang. I was not expecting anyone. I answered the door and before me was another lady in her 30s. I had parked a trailer in front of the house with some used construction materials on it that I was to take to the landfill the next day. She told me that she saw a glass storm door on it and asked if she could have it. i told her that she could have anything on the trailer. I was stark naked in front of her and she did not blink and never missed a beat. After closing the door, I put on a pair of shorts and started outside to help. I turned back when I saw that she had a young man with her and they already had the door out of the trailer.

About 10 oclock that night, the doorbell rang again. When I opened the door, the same lady stood in front of me saying that she had lost her phone and wanted to look for it on and around the trailer. I told her that I would put something on, grab a flashlight and help her look. That's when she said, "You're naked!" I assured her that I knew that. It was as if she thought I did not know I was naked and she would not say anything about it until I acknowledged it. We looked around the trailer for a couple of minutes and I told her that I would get my phone and call hers to locate it. However, we did not hear it ring. Thinking that possibly the battery was down, I suggested that I would look for it in the daylight and she could call me the next day. We went inside where I wrote my number down for her. Since she had already seen me naked twice, I asked if I could remove my shorts. After I shed them, she began asking questions about nudism - how I started, what it was like, etc. We talked for about 10 minutes before she left. I did not hear from her the next day, so I assume she found her phone somewhere else.

With two incidents happening in the same day in which I could explain nudism in a positive way, I went to bed that night feeling somewhat fulfilled. Wish every day was like that.

I agree! The thrill of getting caught naked has put me in some interesting situations. Like testing boundaries!
