Return to DiscussionsOne time I stayed at a LaQuinta Inn in Oklahoma City. I asked the hotel clerk what time the pool closed . He said 11 pm so I offered a 20 dollar bill if he let me swim after hours. He accepted and I swam naked until about 3 am.
I have found that hotels with pools late at night often work for me. Especially if my hubby keeps a lookout and runs interference for me. But, even if I'm caught it is not bad. Often the new people will choose to skinny dip with me.
If my wife (if I'd ever had one) wanted to swim naked after hours at a hotel pool, I wouldn't be much use at keeping a lookout because I'd want to be naked there with her.
In June of 2001, I went to Lusaka, Zambia to see an eclipse of the Sun. I stayed in the Barn Motel--at that time, in a kind of empty area in the outskirts of the city. The accommodations are cabins. The open-air pool was next to the covered, open-air bar; both were across a large lawn area from the cabins. So I figured they were reasonably away from scrutiny from the cabins, if I was careful.
On one of the last nights, I sat outside to write postcards. I had to get them done then, and it was well after midnight when I finished; the bar had been closed for hours, and there was nobody else up and about.
Well, through the whole trip, I'd been thinking about jumping into that pool naked. This was the best opportunity, and also my last chance, so I decided to take it. I walked over there, looked around, then real-quick stripped naked, climbed down into the water (no noise, no diving!), swam for about 10 seconds, then climbed out and got dressed.
OK, so I'd gone guerrilla skinny-dipping in Zambia.
And by the way, it was chilly. Yes, Zambia is in the tropics, but Lusaka is at a high elevation. And it WAS the beginning of winter. I got into bed and couldn't stop shivering. I had to get up and take a hot shower just to get some heat in my body.
