Do you still have to get there at the crack of dawn to get parking? Was thinking of trying Playalinda since I've never been but it's another 30+ minutes driving for me. That's why I've been going to Apollo. And for that I leave by 5am or so.

No, you do not have to get there at the crack of dawn. We got there around 10 a.m., and parked in Lot 12. We got a nice view of the rocket launch at 12:15.
