Pragmatic Nudists

There are types of nudists. Some are earthchild/hippie nudists, some are Hedonistic. This group is for pragmatic nudists, who engage simply because it makes the most sense to swim and sunbathe while naked.

Which are you?
Some despise all rules. Call them anarchist nudists.Next to them are the all natural hippy nudists. It's just natural, man. Some are lifestyle nudists. They are obsessed with being naked at all times. It's their religion. There are pragmatic nudists. Some activities are just done better naked: swimming, sunbathing and perhaps sleeping. Some are hedonistic nudists. It's all about parties and pleasure. At the far end of the scale are sexual nudists, often swingers. For them nudity is a means to an end--a sexual end.
These aren't all the types. But when my wife and I started going to nude places over a decade ago, we soon discovered that there are many tribes in the nudist nation.
We're pragmatics. Your thoughts?

Hi, I would agree, and basically would be pragmatic (in most things in life), but I can check out the other options from time to time, occasionally venturing towards the extreems, if only for a bit of fun. Its all down to enjoying yourself without imposing on others or expecting them to take your view on the world. Just respect diversity.

I do not like wearing clothes. There for I am a nudist. Its not a back to nature or hug a tree thing. Not even a look at my dong thing. I just feel more comfortable naked.

Well, I think I am a pragmatic nudist.

My attitude how to be a nudist has changed several time in my life but I has always been a nudist since my childhold.

As a young child my parents went to a nudist beach with me on holidays. Later on we also went to a nudist ressort at weekends. At home we were only nude when we went to the shower. Otherwise we were clothed.

When I got older at about 15 or 16 I didn't go to the nudist ressort anymore. At that time i had no problems with nudity but I rarely was nude.

At about 25 I began to go to a nudist beach at a lake and in the sauna. Later on my girlfriend and then wife went with me. She has no problem with nudity, A pragmatic nudist, too.

Then we bought a caravan and spent our weekends as a couple and later on with our children at a camping side. No nudist but something else was more important for us. Sometimes we went to nude evenings in a spa.

When our kids had got older and had left home we went on holiday to a nudist hotel which we liked much.

Today I am a new member at the truenudists. I am nude at home when I feel like. Then I work nude in home office. When it get warmer I can spend time on my balcony clothed but this is no problem for me. I like to be on my balcony in the sun.

Over the years I transitioned from a more "life style" approach to a "pragmatic/recreational" one. I no longer get naked the moment I get home - and stay naked - mostly because my home-life has changed in way that would make this impractical.

Nudity at home is now more a matter of practicality. I sleep nude; so it wouldn't make much sense to cover up before or after bedtime/showering. If my wife has just showered and decides to do dishes before going to bed; she'll come out to the kitchen and do them nude. As a result we frequently and naturally interact while both nude. But it is not something that is usually "planned"; except in those occasional instances where we decide to have a nude evening and both purposefully stay naked.

If we decide we've had enough of being in the city and want to get "back to nature" for a while, the nudist resort is a natural choice. If we're going to swim, tan and hike; doing it naked is just a natural choice for us. Hence the "recreational" part of being "pragmatic."

As others have pointed out, there is room for some flexibility. There are times as I mentioned earlier where we might decide to have a "nudist day" at home. At the resort we might end up being more "social" than "recreational" and end up spending most of the day hanging out with other nudists.

I'd guess we are lifestyle nudists from the list given, though we do cover when practical. We do pretty much all we can, naked, but I don't drive naked as much as I used to. Nowadays, I save those times for long drives from home to a nudist destination where I don't have to stop more than once for fuel, food or restroom stops. It is a way of life for us but we do follow the, "nude when possible, clothed/covered when practical" rule.

How right you are. I have enjoyed being nude since taking swimming lessons at the YMCA when I was 5 yrs old. I always desired no swim suit and even my father came to the father/son YMCA swim nude as the pool filtration systems in the 1950s would get clogged up with the materials use in the swim suit material of the time. I continue to prefer swimming nude, being nude along with other nude men for chats about being nude etc. I sleep nude and enjoy being nude outside on my private deck when the temperature warrants it. I tend not to be nude other than in the bath room when my wife is home as she is not into it, but tolerates me to go on nude cruises which I enjoy.

Great question and one I have found myself thinking about a lot myself. I have had to sort of discover what kind of nudist I am over the years. While I don't think I fall exactly into any of the listed categories I am a somewhat "pragmatic nudist," but also a non-religious spiritual nudist.

To explain: I don't want to be nude all the time. Nude is for relaxation. When I work I put on my clothes, even when working alone at home. I am more comfortable that way as it helps me stay mission focused on whatever tasks I am about, like putting on a uniform. When I am done working, when I am free to relax, I love nothing more than getting naked kick back have a drink, maybe socialize online or at a nude friends place with others... whatever. On the most wonderful, special occasions I will travel to someplace; maybe a nudist beach or resort. When I do, I try to leave my clothes behind at the entrance, along with my phone and all my worldly concerns and problems. Briefly. I walk away from everything that connects me to my daily life and to the regular world. It becomes a short, casual, spiritual retreat for me. It is meditative. When the clothes are off, I want to be disconnected from work and daily life. I want to be one with nature. I swim. I sunbathe. I socialize with others who are naked and enjoy nude friendship and companionship. I cherish that it has NOTHING to do with my daily life or work. It is an escape.

Nudity is both a symbolic and literal change of state for me, emotionally and physically. I don't want to be naked all the time as it would remove that special time, make it common in my life, and I want it to feel unique. While I like hanging naked with others in a steam room at the gym or the Jacuzzi or sauna, it's outside that I really feel the connection to the sun, the earth, the air and the water of the world. I have no religious views but I do have views on the human spirit and basic mental health and a little naked time is a virtual vacation for me that clears my mind and renews my mortal soul. So that is the kind of nudist I am. A special occasion, "nakation" nudist, a non-religious "spiritual" nudist.

I will add that I also enjoy the nude figure in art and realize now it is for the same reason. Being nude is both literal and symbolic. - Sorry for the long answer.
