Seven Single-Bar Test Batches

Return to Discussions

Today, I made seven single-bar test batches of soap. I bought some Flaxseed Oil, Cocoa Butter, and Shea Butter and wanted to try them out.

Each bar recipe includes 82g of Aloe Vera Gel, 33g Sodium Hydroxide, 144g Coconut Oil.

1. 73g Flaxseed Oil. Made pink soap
2. 73g Cocoa Butter. Dark cream, light beige.
3. 73g Shea Butter. Bought slightly greenish yellow.
4. 36g Flaxseed Oil, 36g Cocoa Butter. Pinkish beige.
5. 36g Flaxseed Oil, 36g Shea Butter. Flat yellow.
6. 36g Cocoa Butter, 36g Shea Butter. Light yellow. This batch got really hot. Had to put it in the freezer for twenty minutes to get it to cool down. The top just barely started to crack before I got it into the freezer. Disaster averted.
7. 24g Flaxseed Oil, 24g Cocoa Butter, 24g Shea Butter. Slightly orangish yellow when compared to batch 6.

Will un-mold them tomorrow. Will have to wait eight weeks to try them out.
