Growing a landing strip

Return to Discussions

To be honest, the reason I joined this group is that I was hoping for some hints/advice on growing a landing strip. For years, I've just done a complete "Brazilian" wax job. It's a mess operation, but I learned to do it at home and save a bunch of bucks. I found a great product on amazon called Surgi Wax. The trick is to allow the fur to grow in about 1/4 inch before waxing again. Why I ever departed from this routine, I don't know, and regret to this day. I started shaving which caused prickly hairs to grow in - not soft like after waxing. I hated the prickly hairs so began to use tweezers to pluck them - which unfortunately, caused me to get a number of ingrown hairs. I would advise everyone to avoid plucking pubic hair for this reason. So here I am - trying to resist grabbing the tweezers as it became a nightly ritual. I'm trying to let everything grow out so I can return to waxing. Meanwhile, I'm wondering if anyone can advise me how to wax but still leave a little strip of fuzz where I want it. Let me know if you can advise or help me, please. xo

As the bush begins to sprout and grow place a 1" wide strip of tape down the middle and sandpaper the sides. 60 grit works best to start, then 200 grit, etc. Polish with 600 grit. It'll look great !! ;-P

Surgi Wax is great stuff and comes with clear directions which you absolutely should follow to a T. It's a bit of a messy, time-consuming process, however. I always spread newspapers out on the floor as it can be a bit drippy and hard to clean up. I also sit in my office chair with my feet propped up on the dresser so I can lean back and get a good view of the area in the mirror I hang from one of my dresser knobs. I always cover the chair with an old towel, too. I have an old, retired from the kitchen, counter-top microwave on top of my dresser in which I heat the wax. The process takes me about an hour but it would take the same amount of time to drive to a salon and back, get waxed, and expensive, too, especially once you leave a tip. My husband does not seem to be inclined to help me with this process.

Thank you for your reply and advice. Unfortunately, that is not correct. Laser does not work (I've checked w/ people who specialize in removal of hair by laser). It only works for hair that is dark. I could get all the hair on my head removed, but my pubes are about half gray and half dark brown. They told me that the laser was ineffective in removing gray, white, or blonde hair. They all advised me to just go get waxed every now and then. They could not guarantee results.
