Should it be declared a nude beach or clothing optional

Return to Discussions

I've been to the beach many times and find some who are wearing bathing suites, and I think nudity should be required, especially on weekends.

A lot of the clothed people seem to stare at the nudist creating an uncomfortable feeling. This doesn't bother me personally but I've heard the complaint from other people.

It's almost impossible to find a parking space on weekends unless you arrive after 4 PM. If all those wearing clothes went to a different beach it would open up a lot of parking space.

I think declaring it a nude beach would reduce the two issues I mentioned above.

RE:Should it be declared a nude beach or clothing optional

This is a public beach and as such people can do what they want. It is not practical for this to be done. The presence of textiles makes it easier for someone new to nudism to be acclimated to the lifestyle. In fact, it is much more likely that if the conflict between nudists and textiles were brought to the park, the textiles will win.

I get your concerns, but there is no realistic way to make nudity mandatory there. That tactic is only used for privately owned naturist clubs and resorts.

It is declared clothing optional, which is a good thing. Everybody should be at their own comfort level.

Fortunately, unlike some clothing optional beaches, the vast majority of the people there are nude, and most of the ones who are not are either not sufficiently covered for most textile NJ beaches (topless women or either gender wearing g strings), accompanying someone who is nude, or both.

By the way, I haven't been to Gunnison on a weekend since I retired 8 years ago.
Maybe the weekend and weekday people are different.
