About Tomkitten
I think a lot of us lose our inhibitions as we get older, so perhaps that's why I only found naturism in my 60s. I'm glad I did, and I'm still learning. Last year (2025) was a great one for learning, given the nice weather we've had in the U.K. Although I'm still not telling people about my new-found interest, it is amazing what's possible even so. Last year I managed to skinny dip in an Austrian lake, in a river in Italy and in Scotland, as well as in the Thames in a built-up area of London. On several occasions, I've swum with people who are not naturists, but enjoy nude swimming, which has made the experience even nicer. I've also been on quite a few naturist walks around the South-east of England with a rambling group (https://www.naturistramblers.co.uk/) and made some garden visits with British Naturism. It is a surreal feeling to be naked in the countryside with a group of like-minded people, but it is also energising and life-affirming. I only wish I had discovered naturism earlier-on in life, but better late than never.
Since 1 January, I've managed my first skinny dip of the new year and am looking forward to many naturist activities in 2026. I'm still interested in the experience of others. When did you discover naturism? Do you keep it separate from the rest of your life, or are you bold or lucky enough to make it be an integral part of your existence? And, for those who don't live in warmer climes, how do you manage to be a naturist in winter?
True Nudists seems to be increasingly used for the wrong purposes. Like naturism in general, it is dominated by men and quite a few don't seem to subscribe to the non-sexual ethos of the philosophy. The genuine female naturists on the site continue to impress me with their bravery, given the unwanted attention they get. It is a shame that men aren't a bit more gentlemanly. If we were, we might see more women trying genuine naturism.
