RE: another teacher forced to resign over nude photos online

would this be a different story if this incident happened in europe where they are more comfortable with nudity, i can only imagine how many times a teacher at a nude beach in france or germany may run into their students and both parties being nude, heck they may have a discussion in class over what one another did over the holiday, oh i saw ms.teacher at the nude beach here is a picture of us in the water, no big deal. over here in prude land USA they go nuts how progressive is that.

The argument that if the nudist's standard, that there is no shame with the naked body, were in place, that would be well and good. But the teacher was forced to resign, because of standards set by the textile world.
The teacher has a case against the kid who stole the photos.

Nudies, this easier than you think.
The Supreme Courts of almost all 50 states have ruled that nudity in private, is protected as Free Speech under the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution. She can't be fired for her 1st Amendment rights of nudity, any more she can be fired forsupporting a candidate at a rally or reading porn.
She needs a lawyer who is gonna sqeeze the schoolboard dry.

I know this is from last year but nobody mentioned the details.
I have heard of a story where a teacher had a PRIVATE nude photo on her mobile (cell) phone. A student STOLE her phone, invaded her privacy by going through it and looking at the photo that was found, and harassed her by sending the photo to other students.
Was he charged with invasion of privacy? No. Harassment? No. Even suspended? No. The teacher was fired and the headlines seem to have been alongthe lines of "teacher sacked for nude photo".

A friend of mine who lives at the same nudist resort as I just got expelled from his church (Baptist) after his pastor came across an interview he did for Natura. The interview dwelt with the freedom our lifestyle represents. No photos were even posted.

Normally, I'd trim a bit more, but I'm gonna disagree with certain parts of this in context.....
Just as a male should never enter synagogue with his head uncovered, nor a woman a mosque, militant "in your face" nudism is also very, very wrong !! So is insistently remaining clothed at a nudist ( not clothing optional ) venue, though too many "nudists" do so in my experience.

I beg to differ with you re: yarmulkes - Maybe in an Orthodox or Chasidic synagogue, but not in a Reform or Conservative synagogue is it mandatory for a man to have his head covered. I attend services just about every Friday night.

Would be nice if churches actually acted more Christian. What was that stuff about hypocrisy? And Adam and Even being naked and it being good? And something about the two most important commandments? And material possessions (think Catholic Pope and flowers for churches)?

RE: Another teacher forced to resign

Personally, what people do on their own time is their business. This teacher was not breraking any laws, nor threatening anyone, and did not deserve this. I have been very careful what I post online for this reason - in some companies, it can be used against you and cost you your job. Is this fair or right? Absolutely not, but until we can change the public's attitude we will have to keep dealing with this.

Don't have to beg. You're certainly allowed to differ !
The Conservative congregation to which I was an invited guest, would suggest otherwise.
However my point is just as valid, that challenging the norms of the current context is usually a wrong stance.
Being blatantly nude in a textile venue, blatantly clothed in a nudist resort, covered or uncovered in ANY context where such is anti-established norm is not the way to win friends and influence people.

Nekomania, You can be fired for an number of reasons. I know this - I was fired from big corporation 4 years ago for political reasons, as were several others. You can be fired simply because someone higherup does not like you. You can be terminated just to set an example for the other employees. One of my friends was forced out because he strongly disagreed with the 2nd in command in our department (this guy had a my-way-or-the-highway mentality). In my case, every excuse they gave me i could contradict, so they eventualy just slapped the "underperforming" label on me then canned me. I talked with my attorney about this. He said there are things companies can do that, while not ethical, are perfectly legal. Yes, you can fight it, but unless you can show you were discriminated on either race, gender, or sexual orientation, you don't stand much of a chance of winning. That's the real world we live in. Sorry if I sounded snippy, even after 4 years this can still be a sensitive issue for me.
Regards,
Mike
