RE: What do you think about tan lines?

As said, tan lines are unimportant, many of us can not get out in the sun due to schedules or locations. Some even prefer to not gat in the sun for UV exposure reasons, doesn't make them less of a nudist.

They showed their own ignorance by their statement. They might also judge  your worth by your car so forget it. I am nude probably 70% of most days but I also swim train at a fitness center so guess what...some tan lines. I now wear CoolTan solar tan-thru swim suits and shorts but it can't stop some lines. Enjoy yourself and remember it is your opinion of you that really counts.

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

i truly don't understand the need that some people have to berate others over the silliest reasons. these people clearly have major issues of their own that they are not dealing with if they want to judge your nudist life based on tan lines. what about nudist that only stay nude at home because there are no resorts that they can go to? or nudists in colder climates. maybe this person can tell how much of a nudist I am by my tan line! hahaha

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

Okay.. First, I have been a nudist for nearly 40yrs.   I'm pretty open and understanding of all the different attitudes and cultural issues in different places.

BUT, recently, I was at a nude swimmming hole and someone said to me that having tan lines shows I'm not a real NUDIST ?!   Now I admit I  "propagate" my tan lines becuase I am a blond haired male over ... errr... lets say  35,  and am usually white as the driven snow which  I live in 9 months of the year.   If I had NO tan lines, people would think I had never been in the sun before.  So I like to have a little bit of a tan line around my middle.   Not farmer tan lines, but regular swimmer tan lines...

So does that make me any less of a nudist?    I was slightly insulted after having thought about it for a day.  Though it could have been too much sun on the brain that day.   Thanks for your comments.
you get tan lines if you just work outside for a few days in a clothing required place
i have some tan lines but want to get rid of them just not going to be under the lamps since those make cancer more than the sun does
i either burn or nothing so hard to do

To reduce the risk of tanlines, always make sure you wear clothing at different lengths, wether it be shorts, socks, tee shirt, or whatever. I even move my wrist watch up and down a little, so to avoid unsightly lines.

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

One of the first conversations I ever had in a nudist changing room was with a woman who's daughters had also been at the swim. The eldest had just moved into senior school (year 7) where she'd been picked on by the other girls in the showers because she had no tan lines. In consequence the girls wore costumes to sunbathe in the garden but were perfectly happy to go naked at the beach or the swims.

We both have tan lines. While we try to be nude outside as much as we can the time spent outside with clothes on is still a lot more so we are goin to have tan lines most of the time.

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

Tan lines are an unfortunate reality. The person who said real nudists don't have tanlines must be very lucky to have so many opportunities to tan in the buff.

Just like that person who wants to lose just 10 more pounds before the class reunion, I fear that I will never completely be without tan lines.

So, be happy with what you got and it will lead to greater happiness.

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

It spoils the look of a good all-over tan when some parts of the body remain pale brown or even white, even after hours in the hot sun. The parts in question are:  the inner surface of the upper arms and armpits, the groin "valleys", and the rear cleavage. In an effort to correct this tone-less phenomenon, I sometimes assume rather strange contortions so that there are places where the sun really does shine (on). However, I usually I do this when no-one else is around!  Because of my naked lifestyle, I never have tan lines associated with conventional swimwear.  I wear a minimal g-string only when it is absolutely necessary.

I try to avoid them, but sometimes it happens when you are not able to be totally naked. Not every country I visit is so liberal as The Netherlands

My most noticeable tan lines this summer were from the flip flops I generally wear around town.  Now those were odd-looking tan lines.

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

What an idiot! I hate it when people start the whole, "I'm a better xxxxxxx than you because xxxxxxx". People are different and their experiences and opportunities are different. I have no tan lines because I live 10 minutes from my local nude beach and go there every day. If I didn't have this beach nearby, I would still go to beach every day with the kid and only get to go tom a nudie place at weekends.

Don't waste a moment of your life considering that person's opinion.

Hey tanlines just let you know its time to get some quality airbath time as Ben Franklin would say.  My feet get spots on them from wearing crocs.  A few hours sailing nude and all is even again.  So what does this have to do with being a nudist?

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

Having grown up in an era when UV rays were not considered as deadly as Gamma rays I have always felt healthy when I have a deep tan. Living here in South Carolina, we have many days, even during the winter, when it is quite comfortable to tan on the patio. As a result I am able to maintain a head to toe tan almost year around.

Not all nudists have that luxury, of course, and having tan lines certainly does not make them less of a nudist.

My wife does not share my enthusiasm for nudism or tanning and now in September she looks as if she had spent the summer above the Arctic Circle. Since I often visit nude beaches and nudist clubs without her I feel that my tan identifies me as a genuine nudist, immediately, to the nudists that do not know me. With my tan, I am properly dressed for the occasion.

RE: What do you think about tan lines?

I have one major tan line, and it bothers my wife to no end.  My butt is a bright white!  I do not go out in the sun to tan but to enjoy being naked.  I do not like tanning at all especially on my belly face down, it just is not comfortable.  We went  to a resort Monday and she said that I was like a firefly, but I really don't care.  As far as tan lines go, I think that some are sexy, but some are from no fault of the person, but because of the type of work a person does.  Of the other couples that were at the resort, all had GREAT tans, some actually too dark, but that is their choice and it seems that they enjoy laying in the sun.  I enjoy movement, big difference.
