I can't speak for others, but being in the medical field for 27 years, it is a known fact that men pass away 7 years earlier on average than women. At 50, I would not get involved with someone over 65 as that adds another 7 years to the already 15 years difference.

I don't get much the "useless" attitude as I do the "invisible" attitude. Ever walk by a pretty young lady around a lake or in a public park somewhere . . . and say "good day" or "hello" or just plain "howdy" . . . and have them walk right on by you like you didn't exist? Perhaps, you didn't? In their mind . . .your just invisible ;-)
I always smile and say to myself . . . "welcome to old age" . . ha
