Hiya gang, spent a super night at Avalon last week, thought I'd share our experience.

My buddy (a non-nudist) and I decided to meet up for camping, but could only get one night at Harper's Ferry. He was looking around and noticed Avalon; I had mentioned I'd done nudist stuff, so asked if I wanted to go. Fuckin A! So we did.

It's a bit waaaay back in the woods; don't run low on gas like I did.

You drive up, there's a small office with a nice clothed receptionist who signs you in, takes your credit card, gives your wrist-band (tied to your credit card) and makes sure you read and sign the rules.

There is camping directly across the street, and most of the amenities on the other side of that. There are also additional camp spaces and RV spots (I think with electric and water but not sure) further up the road. We decided to stay near the action.

A big bonus: dry, pre-cut firewood was waiting by our fire ring. Score!

We got our tents set up, and met a few of the other nearby camping nudists as we did so. We stripped down and headed to the outdoor pool.

There are two pools, one indoor, one outdoor. There are also two outdoor hottubs, and three indoor hot-tubs in the indoor pool building. They're open 24-7.

The main building burnt down this past spring, but that didn't seem to matter; some folks we were talking to even said it was a good thing, reduced a lot of the cost of upkeep, which has been an issue apparently.

At night, there is a big barn-like building that had a DJ that night, with a dance floor, tables, and a six or 8 person bar tucked in the corner.

Everyone was super-friendly: The staff was super nice, and there was security as well.

Our day was pretty much the pool, then we cooked dinner over the fire, then went to the bar. All during this we met lots of people in the pool, in the lounge areas, just walking around.

At night, we went to the bar / dance club. Fun to watch, met lots of friendly folks, danced a bit.

Almost everyone we met were couples. A few single guys, but not a ton. We got asked by a couple folks if we were a gay couple. We weren't. The super-friendly gay guy at the bar (Hi Curt!) was disappointed we weren't.

We hung out until about 1am, when my buddy was pretty much staggering, and I took him back to his tent. Walking by the hot-tubs, there was some action going on there. My buddy wanted to go watch, but half-way up the steps he managed to trip and fall down them. Kinda broke the mood for the folks in the hot tub. Sorry, guys. But on a positive note, somehow he didn't spill his beer during his tumble.

Speaking with another couple, they shared there are also rooms, and they stayed in the "chalet," which is a single space shared by multiple couples... who don't know each other. They were NOT into that, but I could see other people very much being into it.

All in all, we had a great time: we meet somewhere between us to camp once or twice a year, I think that is going to be our go-to place.
