Return to DiscussionsI think that maybe would be awesome that in the high school, the coach put all the boys on the lockeroom to a nude class about male puberty and body changes. It would stop the bullies and jokes about different body and break some tabus about nudity too. All nude together, coach and students.

A hopeful thought but probably not happening in America any time soon. We have way too many hang ups about the nude body and hard pensis. But I think we would have far less bullying and arrogance if naked older men taught naked younger men about life. I actually saw this type of mentoring at King Spa in Chicago. An 60 something professor and his college-aged student spent an afternoon asking each other questions and talking philosophy both nude. No pretense. No sex. Just two vuleranable humans on a journey called life.
When I was Jr. high I started at the age of 10 all of the boys were required to strip down and shower after gym class. All of our coaches were there making sure there was no trouble and there never was. No one was teased or made fun of for have a different body shape or anything else. The coaches handed out the towels or were in their office doing other things but never did anything inappropriate ever happen.
That's the way it was when I was in High School. We all hit the gang showers after gym class. We had less than 10 minutes to shower and get dressed so no one had the time to worry about hiding anything or bullying anybody. I probably saw 3/4 of my classmates nude at one time or another.
I personally feel the issue isn't necessarily about nudism or exposing children to nudism. I believe it's a much bigger issue and it's about teaching a planet exceptance, possibly starting with our children from an early age to be taught empathy and love towards others and to be excepting of all people, body types, skin colors... Nudism would then just be a biproduct of an enlightened society.

We had to take a shower as part of our grade when I was in middle school, but not high school. Half of us had to shower on Mon/Wed, the other half on Tue/Thu, and optional for all of us on Fri. We would all shower every day, just had to make sure we got credit for it on our day. The teacher was never in the locker room, relying on a student assistant to mark off who had taken a shower. We were comfortable enough with each other that we'd even shower after sports practices and competitions when it wasn't required. We weren't required to shower in high school but many of us did, especially after sports.
I'm now a high school coach (cross country and track) and the wrestling/swimming teams are the only ones that shower. Most kids are so scared of being seen naked that they'll go into the bathroom stalls or around a corner to change. The wrestlers are required to shower for sanitary reasons and they typically wear whatever they wore during practice in the shower. The swimmers are more comfortable with being seen naked; kind of hard to hide your body when all you're wearing is a speedo.
Had the same in my middle school. All were required to take showers and it was no big deal. The only issue was during the 7th grade I started growing pubic hair and only one other guy was to. We both even shared lockers and got called out and looked at for our pubes. I remember one day someone calling out that another guy had an erection and we all went to look. He stood there rock hard letting us all look like it was no big deal. That was the first hard cock I saw besides my own. Caught my gym teacher standing nude after his shower talking to the other gym teacher who was clothed. They had a single shower in the office, but don't know why he was in the hall nude. So the problem here is that you have what seems to be a sudden break from textile to nude. Most of us hated the coaches. They already gave us classes on puberty. They taught health. And we even had a nude show and be told in the shower as I remember. Bullying isn't about difference. It's about power and deep insecurity. Often times bullies zero in on body issues but getting all the class naked isnt stopping bullies. I can see most of the class melting down.
One, this reads kinda like a fantasy and not a real plan. Two, enforced nudity isn't generally liberating. Three, the issues of body shame and stigma arise early in life. By the time we reach junior high they are well entrenched. I think there should be vastly more physical fitness for students where nudism is a core element of the programming but that's simply not happening.
