Florida Trail Hike - February 6
Return to DiscussionsThe 11 mile hike will be on the Florida Trail between the Joshua Creek Trailhead and the Snow Hill Road Trailhead. There is about 1.9 miles of road walk between the wilderrness sections of the hike..Meeting place will be at the Christmas Post Office, which is located on SR 50, at 9:00 AM.
This is in Seminole County. Seminole County has the same anti-nudity ordinance that Brevard Counoty has. Merely being naked in public in this county is illegal, (unlike most of Florida, where simple nudity without lewd behavior is not).
You need to be sure no-one sees you at all if you want to be sure to avoid prosecution,
What are the chances that you will be hassled on this hike? I like to go out into the woods and hike naked, but I stay off the main trails.
There are sections of the Florida Trail that are remote and empty and then there are sections that are crowded and very busy. One must be discreet. I have not been caught on the Florida Trail with my pants off. I carry "easy on" shorts.
If you start off to do a nude hike, you may find yourself doing clothed hike, due to trail others sharing the trail. Always keep your options open and be aware of your surroundings..
75% of my hikes on the Florida Trail have been nude, with no problems. I have hiked nude in north Georgia also, again with no problems. I have been caught by other hikers on the AT in NC, and all but one smiled. Of course, we make an effort to cover up if we see someone headed in our direction.
