This is a group for men who wish to enjoy or have enjoyed a traditional Roman Bath
My experiences in Roman baths
Return to DiscussionsMy first time was in Rhodes Greece back in 2010. It was a slow day and only one other gentleman and I were there. He was a retired
Aussie airline pilot. There were no attendants , we had the place to our naked selves and soaked and steamed and dumped buckets of water over ourselves and each other. We also solved all the world's problems but no one listened
My second experience was in Istanbul, Turkey 2016. There i paid for a massage and scrub. As instructed I wore a cloth that I wrapped around my waist. I adjusted it for the scrub and then the masseuse folded it and laid it over my junk while he massaged me . i was laying on a heated marble slab in the middle of a large steamy room. Many other men were around. All , both customers and staff in the same cloth wraps. I did slip
off the wrap while soaking in the cave like pool and one other gentleman did too. He made it seem like a big deal to be totally bare.
In 2020 I went to about a half dozen Roman baths between Morocco and Tunisia. Both countries being very Muslim , I found that full nudity
even in an all male setting is pretty much forbidden. Even while changing a towel dance must be done to not expose your junk. I took the " when in Rome " attitude. But wished they weren't so darn modest. The scrubs and massages, icy hot oil treatment were all very enjoyable and cheap by western standards. Just wish we could all be bare ass. They do not know what they are missing.
I did find that individual men when I mentioned total nudity were fine with it, but when with their peers they remain shy.
The Romans had used the natural hot springs in the Tunisian one and it has been in continuous use since then. The cave like building itself
now centuries old and literally dripping with history.
