Last holiday of the season more or less. Kids, grandkids, guests, snowbirds, etc. all heading north. Hoping the wind settles down and that we can get back off shore fishing. Keep in mind that they closed Greater Amberjack until January 1, 2018 and I think on May 11, your kingfish daily bag limit goes from two to three, like anyone needs three per person. Keep in mind while AJ is closed to sportfishing it remains open to commercial fishing with their daily limit at 1500#s of gutted fish. Explanation for this is that there is no commercial market for AJ. If that is the case , why even have a commercial season? Because they mean no commercial market in the States. Oh, that's why!! Sport fishermen screwed again. Maybe make commercial daily limit 500# which is still generous and sport limit one per boat per day. Gotta love the way Commercial fishing controls sportfishing in the state of Florida.

Also it is time for sport fishermen, commercial fishermen, divers and spearfishermen to band together as the state in their wisdom is pushing to remove the towers on the gulf. These have been attracting fish for as long as they have been there. It has to cost much less to maintain these few towers than to build new artificial reefs. Use New Technology, Solar Panels, LED lights, the horn, not like they have to put fresh paint on them. The towers need to be saved!!
