About Tyagarah Beach

Welcome to Tyagarah Beach, a serene nudist haven nestled in the picturesque region of Byron Bay, NSW. This clothing-optional beach offers a unique blend of natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for those who embrace the naturist lifestyle.

Legally designated as a clothing-optional area in 1998, Tyagarah Beach continues to be a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking a nude beach experience. The beach is well-maintained, with clear signage and respected privacy standards, ensuring a comfortable environment for all visitors.

Amenities at Tyagarah Beach include ample parking and basic facilities, but visitors are encouraged to bring essentials such as water and sunscreen. The beach's location also offers easy access to the nearby Tyagarah Nature Reserve, where the natural flora and fauna can be enjoyed in its pristine state.

For those interested in the history of the area, Tyagarah Beach and its surroundings have been a meeting place for various communities over the years, celebrating the freedom and simplicity of naturist living. It's a place where you can reconnect with nature and experience the liberating feeling of swimming and sunbathing without the constraints of clothing.

Whether you're a seasoned naturist or new to the concept of FKK (Freikörperkultur or free body culture), Tyagarah Beach offers a welcoming and scenic spot to enjoy the natural environment in its most natural state. So grab your towel, leave your worries (and clothes) behind, and come experience one of the best nude beaches in NSW!

Embrace the freedom at Tyagarah Beach, where the sun, sea, and sky meet in harmony.

Tyagarah Beach Directions

First of all you can turn east into Grays Lane from the Pacific Highway about 4 km north of the main Byron Bay turnoff. This will take in to the northern end of the legal nude bathing area. About three quarters of the way down Grays Lane the road veers left. Soon after this you may find a few cars parked on the side of the road. This is where you will find a delightful ti-tree lake tucked away in the bush on the northern side of the road - a very popular unofficial nude swimming spot.
There is plenty of parking in the sand dunes right behind the beach which means minimum walking. As this beach is located in Tyagarah Nature Reserve National Park day visiting fees apply. There are facilities to pay in the car park and toilets are provided. The legal area is from the car park south to a point about 500 metres north of the Byron Bay Beach Club. Locals do tend to use the area to the north of the car park as an unofficial nude area. Nudity is not permitted in the car park.
The other way to get into North Belongil Beach is to take the main Byron Bay turnoff at the Pacific Highway then turn left at the BP service station and follow that road all the way to the Byron Bay Beach Club resort. From here it is a short walk through to the beach and then about 500 metres north along the beach to the southern end of the legal nude bathing section.
